Did a great job today in a more familiar role. He's one of the pillars our season relies on, long with Keita, Lallana and Shaq.

Such a classy player. He's definitely getting there. Also good to see him take a few meaty challenges and keep on rocking. Hopefully we'll see him again against his old team.

He improved our build-up play massively and because of it we improved tremendously without the ball compared to last few games.

Good to hear he’s had a decent game, especially after some were writing him off after Wednesday. Just needs time and ideally playing in the right position.

He was never good for us as a wide-forward even before injury, people shouldn't have expected much from him there. He's an AM and will soon cement his place there imo.

Very good performance. His first touch and shooting let him down but that's absolutely to be expected after such a long lay-off. It's just a matter of getting him match sharp really because he's looking up to speed in every other department.

Its a long road back, will be at least a month until he is anything approaching his old self. Think people don't realise how debilitating these kind of injuries are. Not just physically either, mentally he will be fragile for a while until he is confident in his legs once more. For now every 90 minuter like this helps tremendously. I think Liverpool would have won the league last year if he had been fit.
Beatings will continue until morale improves...

Right now Shaq is a better player, and he should start ahead of him. Big fan of Ox, but he's not ready yet. Our midfield was all over the place once again.

Good to see Ox play pretty well today, he's getting there. Even though he struggled on Wednesday, at least getting those 45 mins helped.  Looked good especially 2nd half today.

Looks like he's seen as a big player for us this season so he'll get played back to fitness asap.

Not only that but he's never shown glimpses of being.

Ox put in a decent shift & was always covering the right when Trent was out of position, something that Shaq never does consistently.

They're two different types of players.

Shaqiri is not an 8. He can not play in a midfield role unless he's playing as a 10. It's a pointless comparison. On top of that, I am not sure what match you were watching, but Ox was not an issue today. He was very good in the 2nd half.

Thanks to Shaq and other 2-3 individuals, Switzerland is now 11 on FIFA ranking (last year they were 8th). Before that they were no better than the likes of Luxembourg or San Marino. Shaq is the better player.

Completely pointless point. Switzerland have been a solid side for the last ten years, with or without Shaqiri. Aside from that, using that to compare or measure who is the better player is even more pointless.

He isn't the better player in midfield.

Odd game to pick as well considering he was one of our better players
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

Shaqiri has different attributes. oxlade can play a high pressing game and is naturally dry dynamic, Shaqiri is more of a number 10, he doesn't work as hard off the ball

I'm not really comparing, because for me Shaq is a far better player.

So what in the world are you doing?

"Right now Shaq is a better player, and he should start ahead of him. Big fan of Ox, but he's not ready yet. Our midfield was all over the place once again."

Given you said the above, what is your point?

Shaqiri is not a #8, he's not a central midfielder, he doesn't have the attributes for it. So bringing up Shaqiri, in a topic about Chamberlain, in a game where he wasn't a problem, and was our best player in central midfield in the 2nd half, is quite baffling.

Shaqiri should not be playing ahead of him in midfield as he is not suited for said role. Now had you said that Shaqiri should have played today perhaps in the front three or instead of Ox [WIDE] in midweek, that's a more reasonable argument to have. [or as 10 as that is his best role]

But as far as central midfield goes, Chamberalin is quite clearly the better player for the position. Your whole argument is bizarre, particularly the rankings for the Swiss national team.
