I love this kid. Amazing to watch and his attitude off the pitch is exemplary.

Some of our 'loyal British' players should follow his example. Players like Phil make a mockery of the idea you need to buy English for loyalty.

How he has only been here for a couple years himself.

I wouldn't exactly describe it as loyalty, the vultures are still to come.

He's one of our brightest talents, has just signed a reasonably cheap contract extension and is telling the world how happy he is to be here. It's nice to see while other players, who are no more special instead hold the club to ransom.

Right now he's key, but not quite hitting the level that gets the biggest interested. His test will come if his next season is exceptional for us and clubs like Barca and Bayern start making offers.  If we're still pissing about in 5 / 6 / 7 and lower, I expect him to go, it's normal. While he is here, his play is wonderful to watch but surely people barely pay attention to a footballer's comments after what's transpired with Owen, Torres etc. Suarez tbf never went out of his way to talk about any connection. He was a hired gun, he shot them all down and went his way.

It's almost as if football managers are under pressure to play the guys they spent fuck loads of money on, regardless of their relative performance level.

Weird.

It's really not. All managers are guilty of sticking with high profile signings for maybe too long when it's not working out, as not doing so would be admission of failure on the transfer.

So many times this season we have relied on him turning a toothless attacking performance into some sort of result with a bit of his magic. Thoroughly deserved.

Based on the season he shouldn't be in the TOTY. I'm glad he is for the guy, but he doesn't deserve it.

POTY  is such a subjective idea. For Tranmere it is a kid on loan from EFC, for me a player stands out in most of his team's games, influences play. If he is a striker, scores loads of goals.  a midfield forward player, contributes with assists and scores. Fabregas has not been as influential to Chelsea this season inmyopinion as Coutinho for us. Plus John Terry nominated him, why no one nominated Fabregas suggests you are in the minority.
BTW Fabregas failed to make Team of The Year.

Fabregas has had a better season.

Chadli has had a better season.

Coutinho - 4 goals / 4 assists
Chadli - 12 goals / 5 assists
"After the game, Sheila, who was sitting right in line in the main stand, said to me that the ball had crossed the line.  She is a very honest person and that was good enough for me...it was a goal."

Big fan of Coutinho and there has been parts of the season he has been unstoppable but i am surprised that he has got in the Pfa team of the year. Don't thnik he has been consistent enough over the season to be honest and surprised fabregas wasn't chosen over him.

The nomination is probably a little surprising, but it will be a massive confidence boost for Coutinho and will hopefully help him to be himself on the pitch, i.e. when in front of goal!

Yeah, he has been our best player. But he's not been the best throughout all 20 teams.
Think you are buying into the Anti-Liverpool stats brigade. Liverpool are fifth, Coutinho is Liverpool's best player, he deserves a slot.
It's not all about the goals and assists you know. I think Arsenal can feel aggrieved they didn't have another player in teh team, at the expense of Chelsea, but that's about it really.

Terry gets one vote like everyone else. Gerrard couldn't nominate Coutinho either. They also had 30 odd games to base their decison on. I always feel the PFA award is a better barometer of a player's ability than the football writers (even more biased but without idiocy to boot) since they have actually played against the player and know how good he is.

Coutinho is a finalist for the PFA Fans' Player of the Year. You can vote for him at fanawards.90min.com
Rafa Benitez: "I'll always keep in my heart the good times I've had here, the strong and loyal support of the fans in the tough times and the love from Liverpool. I have no words to thank you enough for all these years and I am very proud to say that I was your manager. Thank you so much once more and always remember: You'll never walk alone."
