Funny in the first half of the season, plenty where quick to write Havertz off, as he was struggling, but after the winter break he's been back looking like a star, and nice to see how he's straight back into it.

they are.

When a peter Bosz team clicks, they look great, just passing it quickly and sharply and pressing.  Leverkusen are a nice team to watch.

That should have been 2-2. In a game when you've had no chances, you can't sit and wait for the ball to come to you. And now just like that is 1-3

3-1 Leverkusen, should have been 2-2 but for an awful cross at the other end

Ahhhhh that's how it goes! So close for the struggling Bremen, sucker punch.

Diaby has been a really good signing for Leverkusen too.

Bremen and conceding headed goals  :o

Ohhhh bremen  :butt  Such a great chance again.

Have to say David Selke's career has not turned out anywhere near the hype was (the next Miroslav Klose). Seems to have one surprisingly good season followed by a few poor ones that cause him to be moved on

Thought that was in then but side netting, which brings to that daft goal Leverkusen were involved with a few years back, when the ball went out then went through a hole in the net & a goal was given. :lmao

yeah, I guess it was one of them typicaly situations, a young player has a good first season in the league and gets hyped up. He's had 2 good, but not great seasons at this level basically, so far in his career. No consistency at all.

Ooof that’s pretty filthy
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

In the back of my mind I think if Leverkusen ever kept their players and they put it all together you'd have a more than decent outfit. Bailey, Paulinho, Diaby, Tah, Havertz are players most clubs would enjoy having but you just know they won't and another bad patch is lurking.

Leverkusen play away at Gladbach next, that's quite the match-up.

Men against boys this, Bremen just need a very quick final whistle, right on 90 mins, to put them out of their misery. Sad seeing them like this, love Bremen as a club.

Werder Bremen have been slightly unlucky in that teams have run scolding hot against them this year, they're roughly a middle of the pack team in terms of expected goals against. They're woefully short of firepower though. Bad luck and a lack of cutting edge is no formula.

yup, basically Milot Rashica or nothing. And it's not like he's a striker anyway. It's a lot to ask of him, and if he's off the boil or marked out of a game, they just can't do much.

Well it is a recent theme with them. 2012/13 they finished three points above the relegation zone and finished the season on a 13 match winless run. 2013/14 they went on a stretch of games where they won once in 11 games. Their late season form kept them up. 2015/16, they finished 13th on the last day of the season despite being being in and around the relegation zone for half of the season. In 2016/17, they went through a stretch of winning twice over a thirteen game period. They got out of the relegation zone by playing great in the second half of the season. In 2017/18, they were in the relegation zone for most of the first half of the season.

And this is the Bundesliga table after this round of matches:

Biggest game next weekend has to be Bayer Leverkusen away at Borussia Mönchengladbach.

There is also the Berlin derby - which is on Friday night.

Leverkusen-Gladbach next weekend should be a really good watch (0-0 incoming).

Wolfsburg-Dortmund is another good test for BVB in their title push.

It was all on show in this game - awful home form, leaking goals like crazy, unable to score enough, all adding up to a squad devoid of any confidence . Recipe for disaster sadly for Bremen  :(

Enjoyed that weekend.

Some good performances, Moussa Diaby of Leverkusen caught the eye. Quick, could beat a man and whip in a good cross. Kai Havertz looks like he has everything in his locker. Emirbay also good. Frankfurt looked a dead team, really poor showing. Watching Dost upfront in his own was painful. Munich next week could be messy. Borussia M Gladbach Embolo looked decent in the centre, picking up the ball and driving forward. Thuram and Plea causing havoc. Dortmund clinical again.

Plan for next weekend is; Friday night football, Borussia M Gladbach vs Bayer Leverkusen Saturday afternoon, and then Munich vs Frankfurt for tea kick off. Then have the Sunday games on in the background.
