Half time: Brighton 1-1 Liverpool
« on: January 29, 2023, 02:17:46 pm »
So much better than the league game, albeit that's a low bar to clear! We've never really had full control of the game but we are playing with more energy and confidence than we've seen recently and look more threatening as a result. Our goal was beautifully worked, theirs a huge slice of luck but that's football for you.

More of the same in the second half and we'll have a decent chance of winning this.

Thought there was a possible handball after the challenge that brained Harvey?

Been good and deserve to be winning, just typical of the way it's going for us right now with their goal. Front 3 been lively, well when Harvey comes inside anyway, totally wasted on the left wing. Nice to have a midfield that doesn't get walked through every 5 seconds, Stef been good. Ibou in god mode.

Cody or Darwin win this for us in front of our end late on.

We're playing decent and they scored a fluke goal.

Mo should've scored.

Looked better. Midfield has much more energy. Such a jammy goal to concede.

Of course they score a deflected goal from a shot that’s going wide, from an entirely preventable corner.

Decent performance if only we had a older version of Bajcetic in the 6 position closer to his prime, would exert far more control in games as well as be able to compete physically and with our counter pressing.

Better. Still not sure what Gakpo does really in the centre nor why we keep playing Elliott from the left though.

Mo has no confidence.

Our inability to play out of the back is concerning.  Created some good chances on the counter though and we should be ahead.

Our best half for a little while and we concede that :duh

Diaz on that left and this is about 6-0

Really good from us I thought, look like they've been working together all week, so much more coherent. Some really good moves. Deserve to be in front, should probably have two, and their goal was as jammy as they come

If we do better in those transition moments where we have an opportunity to regain possession we will win the game.

We're losing those too often and Brighton are gaining territory or creating chances from it.

We do that better in the 2nd half and we win the game!

Much much better, we actually look like we have a functioning midfield now. A good goal from Elliot, and nothing really we could do about the deflected jammy goal from them.

Salah has been getting in great positions and causing some chaos but really needs to up his finishing in this game.

Gakpo is looking good as well, definitely a better game from him.

I think this game is really tailor made for Nunez to come on and absolutely destroy their defense.

Tbf attack looks much more dangerous today, best moments have been when Mo has drifted inside so would like to see more interchanging but signs of improvement so no complaints today, game is there to win with a bit more quality.

A lot more fluid today. More chances to come for sure.

Good half from us, lucky goal for them.

Hopefully can keep up the pace but would have been good to have a lead to defend in the second half and take less risks,

Why the fuck are we playing Harvey on the left? Every single pass from him goes backwards. He's just not quick enough and is incredibly left-footed in his dribbling. We're making him look bad and blunting the side.
Quote from: Dion Fanning

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

Cheaply lost the lead but playing pretty well overall. Salah is in truly shocking form though, looks incapable of scoring. Great play from Gakpo and Harvey.

Lots better and we've carried a good threat, really unlucky for their goal

We are turning the ball over in dangerous areas still which exposes our biggest issue on the transition but have defended well, Konate and Gomez have been good.

Mo is really struggling at the moment isn't he

Encouraging i thought,we look to have a presence in midfield again and even some pressing. :)

Need to improve on the passes from the back, went too many times straight to them.

Keep it tight and compressed lads and we'll win.

Bajcetic deserves to be starting based on performances, done more than I’ve seen Fabinho do in a long time. Really good performance compared to the shitshow a few weeks ago.

Huge improvement from the last time we played here, and we really should be winning this game. Salah should have done better when clean through, and Elliot shouldn't have taken a 2nd touch allowing Lamptey to get across. One cleared off the line as well.

The booking for Bajetic for his 1st foul was ridiculous.

Yep, he jumped in front to block the pass and caught him with the trailing knee, foul but no booking.
