Mane trained as normal. Thiago was there too.

Hendo, Milner and Elliott all trained individually.

Injuries like those to Jones and Elliott are down to luck more than anything else. Not really sure how you can mitigate for them.
I think Jookie might just be the best fisherman on this thread.

Annoying re Jones.

Real bare bones in midfield with Naby, Hendo, Jones, Elliott, Milner all not in first team training although that may change quickly.

So a midfield of Fab, Thiago and Ox is a possibility on Saturday.

Milner was in training
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

Wonder what Curtis had, detached retina or something less serious along those lines maybe? Would tie in with the needing to keep laying flat but he'd have needed urgent surgery which hasn't been mentioned.

So after Hendo and Fab at the back this year, we’ll soon be having Matip and Konate as a double pivot. Will still be better than United’s pairing at least.

We do get some rotten luck though. It’s an absolute mix of injuries at the moment. Some muscle ones as you’d expect but Elliott and Jones ones are both freakish in their way.

Its Tuesday and the game is on Saturday so probably time for one or two to get back. I reckon Henderson will be back, but Milner probably Porto.

That's not necessarily a bad thing as a three, Maybe a bit early for him but the likes of Morton might be required in the Champions League game, which is effectively a dead rubber

although we have done ok with the football gods that look after CB's - now if we can just get that straight line to the one responsbile for midfielders.
on the positive side it looks like 5 out of our injured 9 could be assessed and chance of making the squad this Saturday.

Origi sounds like could be just a dead leg. anyhow good to see him back playing for Belgium - and with a world cup around the corner that should be motivational enough to put in the work on the field and in training to be at the top of his game.

so only Harvey, Jones - eye and Firmino - around 2nd week Dec are long term injury worries at the moment - Robbo hamstring not updated - but probably Sat is too soon. so I expect a few games for Tsimikas - although Neco Williams is doign ok as a LWB for Wales at the moment - which is great.

nothing unlucky about his tackle. they were targeting him the whole game as i can recall.

our players literally receive no protection. eg vvd and thiago last season. Alisson this season so far. Wont be shocked if salah season ends during the arsenal game to be honest. The pundits will be cheering and celebrating no doubt about it.

jones was suffered during training which i can say is a bit unlucky and shouldn't happen in the first place but thats how we roll i guess. Intensity during the sessions and games.

Good news regarding Robbo, might potentially be in contention already this weekend. Personally I'd start Kostas in the next two games against Arsenal and Porto anyway, rest Robbo and bring him back for Southampton or even for the derby.

Sounds like Robertson and Henderson aren't too bad.  Good stuff.

Probably more muscle fatigue related which is something to be mindful of for Saturday. Henderson played more minutes than we'd have liked in recent weeks and then Southgate plays him for 90 minutes at the weekend.

Robertson's seemed tired as well in recent games and then goes off to play two full games for Scotland and comes off with a hamstring strain towards the end of the second game.

Good thing is we won't need either for Porto next week - and we have Tsimikas - but with the midfield situation we can't afford manage Henderson's minutes the way we'd like. The groin injury from last season has seemingly flared up again though.

Hopefully we have enough midfield bodies to rest Hendo too if needed.

Think Hendo will be fit enough for Saturday just depends on how he reacts in the next couple of days. The Porto game will be difficult as both Hendo and Fab will need a break so Morton should get a chance.

Porto game should be about giving games to those who need them. In terms of midfield Ox could use the minutes and Thiago really needs easing back in and could do with a game there; but then they might both start on Saturday. Ideally Milner would be back for Porto (and Keita) but it may come too soon.

It's a chance to give Morton a start. Henderson and Fabinho should get the night off.

The international injuries might reassess Klopp wanting to take that game more seriously than we need to.

Yes Roy, it's been a similar journey for him to Robbo, in that it took him a while it seems to find his feet. Two good examples of us finding the right player with the right attributes that could be coached to fit into our system.

Absolutely. Hoping the same for Trent soon whether that's Neco or someone bought in. The full back positions are very demanding with the way we play so having good deputies certainly enhances our chances of coping.

Welsh fans were thrilled with Neco's performances this break but many were saying he should move to get regular playing time, or at least be loaned, which ignores the salient fact that he would not have reached the level that so impressed without the coaching - and crucially, the patience - of Klopp.

Neco was available for transfer in the summer but stuck around. If he'd had a good Euros he may have moved on if the offers came. If he did move on he may be sat on someone else's bench now, instead of benefited from the coaching here.

Trent a difficult player to have to compete with but we need to start using a squad more anyway. The demands get tougher every year, we can't just have a 1 to XI anymore and they play every week. I don't think we've even had our best XI available since lockdown for any game.

Neco made 14 appearances last season and that's with him really struggling for form and confidence. He could have got that to 20+ games otherwise.

If he really pushes on then there's also ways to get him and Trent in the same starting line up on occasions, or Neco could be used as an impact sub (i.e. when pushed forward at Preston).

Ultimately he’ll probably need to move, but for sure working with Kloppo and the coaches here and alongside his team-mates will have a massive part in his development.

I love seeing him do well for Wales too, but sometimes as fans we all just need to find soemthing to complain about - and Wales do it as all fans do! This is one of the new favourite subjects - Neco and why he needs to move. But fans don’t need to complain about this at the moment. His form for Wales was great this last international break without having played much (he was injured too so they need to remember that). He’ll likely play for Liverpool in the CL soon and will be a fixture in the match-day squad, and his play for Wales on the left may open a couple more opportunitues for him here, even if only as a sub once in a while.

He’s 20, spending the rest of this season here is going to help not hinder.
