I suppose one reason why a comparison of Suarez's 11/12 season with Firmino this season is that it's probably the season where they would be the most positionally similar. Suarez played with Carroll in 11/12, but was more or less the main striker thereafter.

I've done a comparison of the league stats to see how they've looked in terms of the numbers.

In terms of stats (league only): Suarez 11/12 vs Firmino 15/16

Suarez, 31 games, 11 goals + 3 assists. Firmino, 25 games, 8 goals + 7 assists.
Suarez, 4.1 shots per game. Firmino, 1.9 shots per game (this is probably up by quite a bit post-Rodgers)**
Suarez, 2 key passes per game. Firmino, 1.6 key passes per game
Suarez, 2.4 dribbles per game, Firmino, 1.5 dribbles per game
Suarez, 2.2 offsides per game, Firmino, 0.5 offsides per game
Suarez, 1.1 tackles per game, Firmino, 2.2 tackles per game
Suarez, 2.2 times dispossessed per game, Firmino, 2.2 times dispossessed per game

So from what I can see from the stats and memory, Suarez 11/12 vs Firmino 15/16:

Similarities:

Both like a dribble (although Firmino's dribbling is way down from his Hoffenheim dribbling - I understand the Bundesliga has a much higher rate of dribbling generally, but Firmino's dribbling has gone down by 2/3 per game, which surely goes beyond the German league factor)
Both like to contribute defensively (although Firmino gets involved even more than Suarez)
Both have a range of finishes

Differences:

Suarez sometimes played off the shoulder - Firmino very very rarely does, even when he's the furthest forward - possibly reflected by Suarez being offside four times as much as Firmino
Suarez gets into good heading positions and scores a few headed goals - Firmino does not
Suarez drives into the area with the ball at his feet. while looking to play - Firmino does not
Firmino tackles even more than Suarez - quite a lot more
Suarez shoots way more than Firmino - and he's always done so, even when he was at Ajax and Firmino was at Hoffenheim. Firmino's shot output was a lot higher at Hoffenheim, and it's been a bit higher under Klopp - see below. This indicates that he has a higher shot potential than he's showed in the league so far. It's still far off Suarez numbers though.

**

Firmino's shots per game for Liverpool:

2.1 shots per game in the league under Klopp
2.6 shots per game in the Europa League
4.1 shots per game in the League Cup

He's very confident right now, isn't he?
Coutinho must be enjoying this too.

I loved his goal celebration when he knew Pip was go jump on him; so he looked, arched his body, and picked up the little hitch hiker.

Bliss.

Was brilliant. Was consistently picking out the right pass and spotted Clyne's run for the penalty. You need vision like that if you want to be effective in the final 3rd.

Disagree.

People who know the German league were saying that we got a superb player, with the potential to be one of the best players in the league.  Everyone I knew who has been watching the Budesliga the past few years were delighted with the signing!

You can't say any player from a different league will be this, that or the other until they've had a bit of time to settle.

Listen I'm delighted to proved wrong. I thought he was shocking at the start of the season, possibly because I thought he was much older – was delighted to discover he's only 24! But I still don't think anyone could adequately describe his style even when we joined him, even the purported Hoffenheim experts on here, there were plenty of 'em. Klopp - you'd imagine – would be very familiar with his stylistic quirks. Glad he's making it work. I'm not sure Rodgers really knew what he was getting though.

Superb again. For a player who tends to lose the ball a bit too cheaply in his own half, his passing his exceptional in the final third. Didn't realise at the time what a good pass in to Clyne it was for the penalty.

He's getting better and better. So cool and calm in the penalty area and fucking deadly too. Well played Bobby!

This lad is constant motion.

Not frenzied, but calculated.  Always pulling the defence out of shape.

Firmino and Lallana link up so well together and they're constantly causing the opposition problems on the ball and off the ball with their workrate and pressing.

I sometimes feel like they need a winger with them to fully stretch play against the "lesser" teams

I'm starting to think Lallana is a good squad player too. I've seen performances I never thought he was capable of.

Add a top quality winger into the mix and we have some good options. It's clear Klopp sees this as a priority too.

Could you describe what it is about Suarez's first season that Firmino's first season is similar to,
For me the similarities are in how bright and inventive they are in the final third with their flicks, ideas and all that sort of stuff - they`re both joy to watch in that sense, also the work-rate and their respective pace are pretty much the same. We got ourselves a poor mans Suarez who still as such is a tremendous player imo.

I wouldn't say a poor man's Suarez as that doesn't do him enough justice. He's Suarez-lite in an attacking sense and he's even better than Suarez defending from the front, the amount of tackles and interceptions he makes is outrageous.
So bloody what? If you watch football to be absolutely miserable then go watch cricket.

Should we thank Rodgers for acquiring him?
He was a Transfer Committee signing.

And here's the biggest plus Firmino has over early-Liverpool Suarez (11/12 and 12/13): composure and intelligence (for a 24 year old), giving him much better efficiency in the final third. Basically, the area that held Suarez back for a couple for seasons before reaching his potential peak he eventually did.

Fucking quality, amazing how quickly he's adapted. People rightly say you shouldn't fully judge a player by their first season in a new team/league/country, yet he's only taken half a season to show his brilliance.
Keep it up Firmino lad!
