because most of them are manchester united loving c*nts. it would kill them to see us win the league. its the spin they put on everything that pisses me off. we are still top of the table, yet you would swear we just went 10 points behind the way these assholes go on. city got nowhere near the same coverage when they lost their games.

remember the arsenal away game where we drew?  they were saying we fucked away 3 points after that game too even though it was very much a point gained,

Yes they are a lot of Man Utd and Chelsea fans in the media, but the point is they say this because they know it will get a reaction by those on social media. I don't think it will ever change sadly, there is just too much wall to wall coverage of football now. I just wish the likes of Sky and BT were made to cut back their football coverage instead of hyping it up even more. Why should a title chase ever need hyping anyway? It exists in its own vacum it shouldn't need TV companies encouraging ever more over the top behavour from fans, players, managers. Just let football be itself, it doesn't need everything else.

the media love ramping up the pressure on us. we really do get different treatment to other teams.

No,they don't.

The media just want to make the PL title race sound interesting as it helps their sales and gives them things to talk about.

We just need to concentrate on ourselves and stay strong.

Get behind the team and stop being nervous.

Just a feeling really. Even in our “blip” we’ve still picked up points whereas City lost to Newcastle, lost to Leicester, lost to Crystal Palace. Everyone expects us to drop points again, and we probably will, but based on this season so far how can anyone then say that City won’t? We’re ahead of them because we’ve been better than them. Once TAA is back and our defence is settled again I think we’ll be fine.

Thanks mate.

If I were Guardiola I would be telling my players to look on social media and the internet and see how Liverpool’s own fans are turning on them, ramping up the pressure and seeing how the media is making them lose their heads.

That was probably part of the thinking of bringing the game forward against Everton. He will be using all this hysteria to keep his players motivated and believing that we will lose and they have to take advantage.

Thing is, if you look at social media, pretty much everyone are losing their heads depending on what happens game to game. City lost at Newcastle and all of a sudden loads of their 'supporters' were giving up hope on the title and wanting an all-out assault on the CL instead. Some were even saying they were pissed off with football altogether. All this, just because they lost a game with a third of the season to go. It's utter madness.

Much of the Everton fanbase on the internet has lost it's head simply because we are top and may win something. United's were losing their heads when Mourinho was there and killing them, now they are predicting next season is 'theirs' because Olleh has given them a decent new manager bounce. Everywhere you look, people are losing their heads. It's the way it is these days. The media love reporting on it, and they also love stirring it and/or creating it. It's all about extremes, and they don't really care who's pot they stir so long as it gets readers/listeners.

Much of our own fanbase has lost it's head. Many lost it weeks ago buying into the idea that we were on the brink of clinching it. Now we have thousands losing their head because they feel we've ''bottled'' it. All it would take is for us to lose in the next game or so and it will go nuclear. Then again, if we put a run together and City lose one, their fans will be the one's going nuclear. Everywhere you look, it's boom or bust, with nothing in between. Everton have nothing to do with our club, but many of them lot are having nervous breakdowns over us and will only survive the summer if we don't win the title. Everywhere you look, it's madness.

I'm just glad I don't have social media accounts, only watch our games, don't watch the shite spewed out by pundits and barely skim read the sports pages these days. It keeps me a lot saner.

I definitely agree with you that far too many of ours have lost their heads. If anyone has ''bottled it'' it's not the team, but far too many of the fans. Opposition managers will be right on it and know that if they can frustrate us early on our own fans will do the rest by conveying their anxiety onto the field and into the heads of our players. It's a no brainer really. That's what every manager we play against in the remainder of the season will be telling his players, and who can blame him? At this point in time, we're doing it to ourselves.

Just as well. We had our best run of form when we were chasing them and the pressure wasn't as intense as it was now. We maintained it to some extent after they lost a few times in late December, but since the turn of the new year we've really made a mess of things. Having them as favorites will probably suit us better.

We've really made a mess of things?! What? By losing to City and drawing two games? Keep it together man.

We had an opportunity to go 10 points clear on January 3rd. We had an opportunity to go 7 points clear on January 30th. We had an opportunity to go 5 points clear on February 4th. Yes, I'm greatful that we're still top for the time being but if you think that we haven't passed up 3 golden opportunities to put some distance between ourselves and those chasing us then you're either in denial or have to take off the blinkers.

It would've been fantastic to do any of those things, absolutely, but you're being far too harsh on a team that has 62 points after 25 games. They haven't messed up anything. To expect us to race away with the league is totally unrealistic. Show some support.

Exactly what I was pointing out yesterday.

People need to calm down and realise no-one's bottling anything. 3 Teams in the history of the Prem has done as well or better than us at this stage of the season - only 3. We've performed better than ANY United team for instance, under Ferguson up until this point- and adjusted for inflation, I'm sure we cost much less than most of 'em. The teams who have done better than us are toys of the oligarchs- massive money machines throwing tonnes of money at their teams.

We're "bottling" fuckall.

Instead of opening a can of worms- bottle it!

I don't know if you can describe winning at City as a golden opportunity.

I'd consider myself to be one of the more objective posters on here and while we've clearly missed good chances to increase our lead, I don't think we've been good enough to win those games and accept it as a dip in form.  Surely the team is allowed a dip in form, no?

Once the Champions League will start it will be a help as well, getting in the habit of playing regular games again which means we can refind some of the rhythm we have currently lost. Though as you say, at least we are still adding to the points.
I think it's so true although the evidence is anecdotal. Rhythm plays an important part. Let's see how we pump ourselves up for the United and B Munich games

I can understand the 7 point disappointment but not the 10 point one. That wasa chance but itwas not a golden chance.

Also you are then assuming we keep a 10 point lead by winning every single game.

That's the craziness of it, the fact that people seem to think we should be winning every game. How often has that ever happened exactly? If even a team like City can't do it, why are people expecting us to?

Sure, before the game everyone wants to win. But wanting and getting are two very different things in life. Our results so far have been outstanding the first part of the season we are setting records which compare with the best teams this club have had. Anyone who expected that to continue through injuries is being a little bit unrealistic. We are still in a perfectly good position, with a huge part of the season still to go. While we've hit a blip its entirely natural considering the injuries we are suffering from. City too got them and were affected as well. Everyone wants to enjoy football but having a perspective is important as well, especially in a season like this.

There is a difference between being disappointed and a team being called bottlers. Its also amazing how the media has made people follow the narrative that they set, so much so that the players are being hounded by it.

Many of us are optimistic before any game so that's not an argument. I WANT(no "expect") us to win every game, BUT I keep a cool head and I know it's not entirely possible.
Before a game, I usually think we're going to win, BUT I also accept we might lose BEFOREHAND and so I'm rarely too disappointed.

You should ask that question of the "bedwetters"™
They live of that sh*t. "I'm sh*tting it cause of that midfield!" , "Lose this and the title's gone!" etc..

Doesn't matter what I want or expect- I just don't drop shite from cliffs that are 10 storys high on everyone before, during or after a loss or an expected loss- which is the key.
I do not force my disappointment, negativity or anger on anyone- THAT is the key and what we've been talking about. I keep it to myself, because that does no one any good. If I'm disappointed, I talk about it to the wife or my kid- I don't take it out on the players or my fellow supporters.

What I want- does not matter a jot. What I expect, does not move a tittle.

Yes, they will set a narrative regardless of facts showing them to be the liars they are with zero credibility. Liverpool fans should be above that. Many cleaely are not.

City have a stronger squad, it's extremely difficult to finish above them. Their midfield creativity is a lot better than ours.

It's been a great season so far despite recent dropped points, we have only lost 1 all season, problem is City set such a high standard even that might not be enough.
It's incredibly difficult to win this league. We have barely done nothing wrong so far but you almost think you need to win nearly every game to stand a chance, that's how tough it is.

The media are bound to have a lot of coverage of us, it's a big story as we haven't won the league for so long, players and fans need to just ignore most of it. It comes with the territory of where we are, much better to have this kind of talk than be mid table or scrapping away near the bottom of the league.

They are, but they have an effect you see. They're in the business of selling newspapers/making money(apart from the fact that pundits aren't neutral), so they have to create the conditions for that- they start a positive narrative and then they spin it. It's to keep you reading/watching. Money in ze bank. Quite einfach.

That effect is brought into the club by supporters who've been had and are starting to believe the narrative. Gives them the heebee-jeebees.. and it infests and corrupts. Emotion is a fickle old thing and you can easily manipulate it if you're in a position of authority. It's fluid- unlike reason and fact.

There is a difference between being disappointed and a team being called bottlers. Its also amazing how the media has made people follow the narrative that they set, so much so that the players are being hounded by it.

You belie your username, or maybe it's ironic?

The media narrative is driven by what generates more interest. A more negative coverage of Liverpool feeds into the hateful and jealous frenzy of the majority of opposition supporters than a more positive coverage that only serve the interests of one team’s fans.

No surprises that there is hysteria each time we draw matches, imagine what happens when we actually lose. Unfortunately for the media, these draws are as bad as it will get for us.

As supporters we need to hold our nerve. The boys need us. YNWA

I agree with this.

Whats more appalling (and ironic) is that some long term United fans would rather have City win the league than us.

Let this continue. The more people are against us, the more faces we get to paint.

A lot of people need to calm down, look at the table and see that we’re still in first place.

A little dip was always going to happen, let’s just be glad that we drew those 2 games rather than losing them.

Let’s just support the team and hopefully we’ll go out guns blazing again from now on.

And Kenny's boys of '88,

True, Klopp's teams always had such a dip in their form. Now that we as fans have been able to enjoy the performances of the whole team immensly in December (9 wins out of 9!), it's time the fans put in a shift at the next home game - the support for the team is crucial now.

You dont want to peak too early. I reckon every effort will be made to ensure we peak in the late Feb-April period. Guardiola however seems to want his team to try to blow everyone out the water early this month, which is probably why his team wont win the CL and he is a stupid cardigan wearing c*nt.

Makes me laugh this so called media debate about would Everton want to lose tonight.

Everton are in 9th and in serious danger in finishing in the bottom half of the table. If Everton lose tonight it's because they deserve too and they're crap.

No debate is happening about City V Chelsea on Sunday and if Chelsea want lose to stop Spurs winning the title.

Think it highlights Everton are becoming a joke of a club and not a club that's taken seriously.

Forget he media. Liverpool need to concentrate on Liverpool.
