I went up there in the 70's while we were staying at Colomendy.

Some good ones in here https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/whats-on/whats-on-news/gallery/nostalgia-merseyside-workers-through-years-8966161

Just glanced through this and saw the photo of two auld fellas installing AMPLIFIERS at Goodison.

So, historically, there has been a need to increase the crowd noise from the loyal County Roaders but the unintended consequence is that it's merely amplified the boos.

not sure of a lot with this one, the year, what is going on in the left foreground and what the people on left are doing or watching, waiting for workers coming home maybe? any ideas?

It looks like a funfair, you can just make out a simple carousel on the left hand edge and they look like old Showmans clerestory roof caravans parked up next to it.

By the presence of the motorbike, the jalopy and lorry on the road, I'd hazard a guess at early 1920's.

And of course, the scene is almost unrecognisable these days... https://goo.gl/maps/nFGGqWipTa82

A few interesting old films in here ... https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCT1iNVJbQZ6KVqwQpnm4Tpg

The Transporter Bridge one brought back memories, I remember it was terrifying as a kid going on it, the wires creaking away.

St Barnabas church, Penny Lane, is in the background of the Devondale road picture  :)
If your moral compass is Piers Moron then I ask you to think whether someone who oversaw illegal phone hacking and published fake pictures depicting War Crimes is an appropriate person to look up to. In fact, I'd suggest you're a bit of a c*nt.

Can remember Roe street like that , used to park my car in the car park by the gyratory there in the 80s when you just parked and didn't have to pay . Rockfords bar  was there too off that car park .

Same mate, you literally rolled up on to a bit of waste ground and went in to town shopping. Now it's 6 nicker an hour in Liverpool One, fucking mad isn't it.

I didn't know that, I haven't approached town that way to park for years, but to be honest I rarely shop in town now. Very interesting though.

Roe st..never seen it like this before!

Yup, remember that - bottom end of the gyratory (at the time, wasn't this the world's longest continuous bus stop??) Nr4 and 5 used to go from that first one - then it was busses like 72, 73, 80 and 86 wasn't it? We used to call the 86 'the banana bus' - cos they came in bunches...

Need help with this one's whereabouts..

The Conservative Shop is a dead giveaway there, c'mon! ;D - I remember getting chased after egging the windows one day.....radical SWP Youth days........

Waller's bakery on Allerton Road, one of the many independent bakers of the time.

All gone now and replaced with industrial shite.

Mind you Caine Bros in Knotty Ash churned out some crap.

Regrettably no, about 6 years ago i went on a downloading and organising binge of Liverpool and area pics,so have no idea of the source.
