So there is a god! 😂🙏 thank fuckkkk for that! How many games would that have him missing? With the World Cup etc.

I think it's 6 between now and Nov 1,  plus another 4 before the WC break.

Diaz out until December (various sources)

Out for 6 weeks

No operation required.

That's a big relief. He was clearly done until the World Cup at least but there's always the chance for much worse news with knees.

Was more concerned by that than the result yesterday, no surgery is good news.

Also if Colombia were at the World Cup they'd probably rush him back.

The way our season's going I thought it might be an amputation, so this is a bonus for me.

6 weeks of healing/rehab, then 6 weeks getting back to full speed during the WC before he's tearing up defences again. Jota is more than capable of filling in, and needs some rhythm/goals so a good chance for him.
I've got OCD, but I prefer to call it CDO so it's in alphabetical order.

It leaves us light in attack though in terms of depth, particularly in the current formation. This is where we'll miss Origi and Minamino as squad players (and of course Mane as Diaz was his replacement).

Carvalho and Elliott will need to play more in attack (or in that 10 role) with Jota the replacement down the left.

We really haven't been able to make the most of the 5 sub rule this season.

The way things have been we’d have been ‘lucky’ to have 5 players on the bench.

The physicality of Premier League and the lack of action taken by referees is going to wreck the career of many more footballers. It’s no wonder more skilful players prefer Spain unless they get overwhelmingly compensated.

We get it worse though. How often do City players ever get the roughhouse treatment we get?

If nothing else it's a bit of rest and takes him out of the spotlight for a bit which might do him some good.

In the meantime we'll probably play Gomez there which might see things tighten up a little at the back (withg the obvious trade off of losing what Trent brings to the attack).

Something is very wrong with our sports science guys.  Are they not monitoring players and their levels of fitness, how do we keep getting all these 3-4 month injuries?

I guess you mean Arthur since you say 3-4 months, he was an unfit player with a previous history of injuries desperately trying to get up to speed by all accounts. Maybe he pushed himself too hard.

Diaz and Trent were impact injuries. No amount of sports science can mitigate for that.

But that's my point.  Why are people not looking at him and telling him when he's pushing too hard?

A lot of our injuries are injury prone players getting injured. Especially in midfield. Or players after a 63 game club season getting sent to play in the Nation's League in June.

When we're on the end of assaults like yesterday or Elliott last season, what can you do?

The amount of muscle injuries in training is a joke though.

If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

Seems like teams take the pleasure of Liverpool players. There is that extra motivation to go in with hard tackles.  Perhaps those perpetrators think that injuring our players give them a medal of honour given our illustrious history when compared to City’s.

I like the thought that a Ghanaian midfielder is going through a Liverpool player and thinking "You're no King Kenny!" or "have that you Mönchengladbach beating b'stards".

It's probably more that our games are much more dynamic than Man City's as theirs largely play out like a game of chess.  The opportunities for a bone-crunching 50/50 seem few and far between as opposition teams against Man City focus more on managing the space (badly) than trying to win the ball back.

Three first team players injured in the same game is pretty much the story of our season.

No club is getting this amount of injuries, our physio team need to be looked at. Its sad that people lose their job but we need people who can do their job properly.
