Players who didn't win anything is a difficult one. Without going back very far and without looking at anyone else's answers, this is what I came up with - probably some obvious omissions though:

Karius (was gonna say Mignolet but he got a CL medal)

Clyne
Arbeloa
Klavan
Toure

Emre Can
Mascherano
Sterling
Coutinho

Torres
Ings

Street gang eleven (Not necessarily hard men)
  • Bruce Grobbelaar. Active service in Rhodesia. Last Liverpool player to kill a man.
  • Tommy Smith. Out of position but I'm fucked if I'm going to tell him.
  • Martin Škrtel. Scary nosferatu looking fucker.
  • Alan Hansen. Got that scar falling through a glass door officer. Yeah right he did.
  • Andy Robertson. Bag of wiz in his pocket the size of a crisp packet and a razor in his sock. If he gives you the eyes run.
  • Steve Gerrard. Shifty looking fucker.
  • Steve McMahon. Looked like the type of guy that would chuck a glass in the air in a pub to start the entertainment.
  • Graeme Souness. Go on. Tell him he looks like one of the Village People and see what happens.
  • John Barnes. People thought he was called Digger because of his JCB initials. No. It was because he liked to get the first punch in.
  • Craig Bellamy. FORE!!!!!!!!!!
  • Eric Majer. You don't get called Mad Eric because you're the sensible one in the group.
Manager. Bob Paisley. Settled some "business" in Rome with a tank. Enough said.

That's surprisingly a strong team (still sad to think that we didn't win anything between 2006-2012 and then 2012-2019).

As a left back, Aurelio didn't win anything did he? He was classy eh?

Interesting to see no mention of Yossi Benayoun here - a little lightweight but I was always a fan of his during the time he spent at the club. A classy midfielder.

I thought of Aurelio initially but I checked Wikipedia and he won the 2006 Charity Shield and 2012 League Cup with us. I had no recollection of him even being at Liverpool as late as 2012 though!

^ And yes, Benayoun is a good shout. Also Albert Riera was very good for us for a season. There's also Sakho, Allen, Kyrgiakos and probably others too. Aspas has had a very good career outside of his time at Liverpool.

Ah right, I don't remember Aurelio being part of many match-day squads that season but fair enough. Yeah, Benayoun was a fine signing as well.

Always felt a bit sorry for Aspas, he signed the season when we had Suarez, Sterling and Sturridge tearing things apart so it was always going to be difficult for him. Shame he's remembered for a bad corner by some but he's clearly had a strong career in Spain so good for him.

True! Aspas has flourished - clearly better suited to la liga. Not the first player to not quite make the impact in the permitting league, but has excelled elsewhere.

Aspas has done well and seems to be a decent bloke too. It's a shame that he will always be remembered for that corner.

This is an XI containing at least one player but max two (since 93 when I started following the Reds) from each World Cup Winning Country

              Allison

Arbeloa Babbel Carragher  Dossena

     Mascherano  Hamann

              Gerrard

Torres      Anelka       Suarez

Weirdly we were massively stock in attack and midfield but my word the defence was tough! Also our Italian signings are awful😂

We've had some smashing left backs this century: Riise, Aurelio, Robertson. Aurelio didn't quite have the athleticism or durability of the other two, but by God, he was a bloody good player. Scored a delicious free kick at Old Trafford and a really cheeky one at Stamford Bridge.

Yeah, I feel bad for Aspas, too. Ironically, if we'd signed him a season later, with no Suarez and an injured Sturridge, he could've slotted in really nicely and done well for us. More of a goal threat than Borini and more mobile than Balotelli and Lambert.

Also, another one who didn't win anything: Ryan Babel. Infuriatingly inconsistent but you could see there was talent there.

And who could forget the amazing Andriy Voronin? ;D

^ Robbie Keane is another one, very good career other than at Liverpool and he wasn't awful when he was here either. You don't get to be one of the highest goalscorers in European international football without some level of talent.

The Irish radio station had a weekly half-hour podcast "Football with John Giles", always worth a listen. Because of the postponement he'll be doing his best XIs of the last 60 years starting with Liverpool. The programme goes out 7.30 on Thursdays, with the podcast later.

Too many strikers but could not let Francis Jeffers get away without a mention

I've kindly left anyone who was in a car crash out, seems cruel in a post that is cruel enough anyway, Harry Redknapp would have been a shoe in as manager otherwise and I would not have felt too bad because he is a crook. Moyes gets the job based on that one infamous photo

The most successful deteriorated player the world has ever seen, just imagine how good Spain would have been had he carried over the form he had with us to them.

He did make it, but he never looked happy (except holding trophies up) or played that well after he left

LFC Trophyless XI

I’ll get the ball rolling...

1.
2.
3.
4.
5. Mascherano
6.
7.
8.
9. Torres
10.
11.

I'll trap the ball, scoop it up, and smash it in 'top bins'...

Players who didn't win anything is a difficult one. Without going back very far and without looking at anyone else's answers, this is what I came up with - probably some obvious omissions though:

Karius (was gonna say Mignolet but he got a CL medal)

Clyne
Arbeloa
Klavan
Toure

Emre Can
Mascherano
Sterling
Coutinho

Torres
Ings

Most people mess up their name's spelling/pronunciation 11:

Grobelaar

Kronkampf--Hussain--Hippier--Dosser

Macmanamam--Rednap--Lallanna--Coutinio

Dagliesh--Firminio
In fact any name with a Celtic 'Mac/Mc' is a shoe-in..
e.g. Macallister, Macaterr, Macdermot etc.
