I think it could be Muller or Werner. Muller if they want extra control in midfield, Werner if they're comfy with Kroos and Khedira patrolling things. I think Kimmich, Hummels, Boateng, Hector, Kroos, Khedira, Reus, Ozil and Muller are nailed on starters. I think GK and AM/ST will be fitness and matchup dependent. Low tends to have a pretty set lineup and only deviates if they're not available or circumstances dictate something.

Werner can be an out and out goalscorer - as well as being a good all rounder, although hasn't had the easiest season with niggly injuries and the like, so his totals where down a lot. But he's a superb striker. I'd love to see him get a prominent role in the team in the world cup.

Their squad is fucking stacked, especially in midfield. I think you'd have a hard time making a case for him being hard done by if he was fully fit.

not a surprise, he's not played for ages, so even if he suddenly was ready, it's not like he's a key player for Germany. Unlike with Neuer who is their captain and leader, and one of the best goalie in the world, Can is a squad player for them, yes an useful one. But if he isn't 100%, no reason to pick him.

This has the potential to be a proper World Cup, you only have to look at the squads to see we could have some matches for the ages. Brazil, Germany, France, Spain and Belgium will be taking world class players in nearly every position. Argentina and Portugal have some of the best individuals players on Earth too. Can't wait for it now.

With the odd exception (in this case Neuer), Germany very rarely take players to tournaments who aren't fully fit

You can take a chance on Neuer, seen as you rarely, rarely need a 3rd goalkeeper ( even though he is a #1 but you can treat him as the 3rd choice if he takes a few games to get fit ).
Outfield players, you want them fit and playing. Shame for Emre but he is young enough to get another chance in 4 years time. Same as AOC.

For Gomez for sure and Khedira too. Maybe for Boateng, and also the likes of Hummels, Mueller, Kroos, Özil - all would be around the age of 32/ 33 for the next one. Neuer will be 36 in the next one too.
