Well it does have a female lead. Sort of.

Yep, Ellen Burstyn owned that movie.

Imagine a full night watching it though!!

I'd have to watch Mel Brooks whole back catalogue after a night of Requiem :)

A night of Mel Brooks is never a bad way to spend your time. I certainly couldn't do a whole night of Requiem, even once through is hard enough!

Alien, good pick Hazell. One of the best female leads I could think of. Guess I'll just have to go with Prometheus instead.

Requiem is truly an amazing film

It's a really weird one.  Id put it up there as one of the most powerful and thought provoking films I've ever seen but simply couldn't watch it again knowing whats coming

I would say each pick should be assigned 1 category.

This is my female lead movie = x
This my black and white movie = y

Yes.

Great choice in the end, though - now put on some Sting and relax for a while  8)

;D hahaha.

Chinatown is my Dad's favourite film and I'd want him to want to attend my imaginary film night as he's a much bigger cinephile than I (so I'd better make some smart choices!)

I hated my second watch of it, it was sickening. Never watched it again.

Did go and read the book though. Hubert Selby Jr., now there's a writer.

Whose holding up the process?
Exercise is to the body what reading is to the mind.

Think we are all agreed about Requiem

Incidentally, Aronofsky has got a new one out called 'Mother'.  A psychological Horror starring Javier Bardem.

Looks quite good. Anyone seen it yet?

Joking aside mate. Showing your kids that movie might not be such a bad thing.

Yeah Ellen Burstyn's amazing in it. All the actors are really, Marlon Wayans too, he should really have done more of these types of films instead of that Scary Movie nonsense. But Ellen Burstyn's performance was the best.

Like everyone else thinks, great film but really wouldn't want to watch it again.

Bloody Hell was that Marlon Wayans?  Never realised as I never saw the credits, I was too busy crying.

Yup, same, except it was my first. Genuinely one of the greatest films ever. Great call.

Though they all have been so far, I just can't be arsed to say each time. Also, City of God's a top 10 of all time for me.

Pan's Labyrinth's another great pick, another crossed off my foreign film's list.

I can honestly say this is the first time I've ever heard of Rififi. Cool posters though.
