Booked tickets last night for Saturday at 1pm. Might have to go dark from Midnight tonight because I know some bellend somewhere will want to spoil it! Based on 1st impressions and reviews it's going to be so good!

Have to admit, when I found out Luke Skywalker, THEE Luke Skywalker, Master Jedi, with all the Galaxies & Stars at his fingertips, was pricking about on some rock of the west coast of Kerry I was pretty let down!

So without giving away any spoilers, would you say that the criticisms - that it drags a bit in the middle and some of the jokes are a bit out of place - are fair, or is that people just nitpicking?

I'm just never sure with these reviews, I can't tell if they are genuine problem with the film or it's just people being over critical and I'll watch it and think, "what's the problem?". Only a few days till I find out I suppose.

But overall, what would you give it out of 10? Or where would you rank it against the other films?

I know what you mean, and yes, best to find out for oneself. Outta 10? Hmmm.. well, I'm definitely landing on a surefooted 7. Is it more? Maaaaaayyyyybe. However, to properly rank it, I'd have to take the little boy out of me - cause lets face it, there's a whole lotta giddyness surrounding it. Gimme a day or two - and maybe a spoiler thread in here to bounce of some thoughts. There were parts I'd like to see had been... different, or had another outcome, but, as I said, need to let it sink for a bit. A 7 seems about right - at the moment.

Yeah I've read that there are a few things in it which will be divisive - but that might be a good thing...some people have said they want a Star Wars film that takes some risks and is not predictable, but when they get it some will complain that things didn't go the way they wanted / expected. Personally I have no pre-conceived ideas about what I want to happen to certain characters - I'm happy for there to be some unexpected developments, as long as they work.

Just out of interest, what would you give the original trilogy / TFA out of 10?

You should if you can. I’d only seen the trailers and a few tv spots and they didn’t give anything away at all I felt.

It was brilliant, right up there for me. Rian knocked it out of the park. I actually feel bad for JJ having to follow that. Superb.

As a huge Rian Johnson fan (love all his films, yes even Brothers Bloom), I was quite interested too see how successful he would be directing such a huge move with impossible expectations. I'm not a massive Star Wars fan but it's good too see directors like him being given a chance and getting positive reviews.

Really enjoyed this lots of stories I havent heard before like how they tricked the Unions to letting it be filmed in the UK by making a fake cast listing that made Peter Cushing, Alec Guinness and David Prowse the main stars and Ford, Fisher and Hamill bit part players low in the cast.

And the little clip of a BBC review that really slagged the film off.

Great stuff.
