Thanks to everyone who has continued to support RAWK. And sorry to be back here badgering you! But things are slower than ever, and times are tight for many. I guarantee more than a grand a year for RAWK, and in general that’s met by regulars. Some years left a bit of a surplus, which was shared with good causes the Liverpool. But that was back in the day ... now it’s slowed down a lot, and I’m really grateful that when I post a *rattle* here we usually get a month or two covered, but otherwise the steady trickle usually leaves us at least £50 a month on average short, and we need that to step up a bit please: will keep it going for the rest of the season, and hope it picks up.

There are some regular donors, and huge thanks to them: we just need a few more. I know there’ll probably be a flurry as a result of this rattle and that’s great; what we really need if a good few more people to send a tenner a month or so, steadily, without the need to rattle!

Thanks

Can't guarantee dough regularly that far ahead, soz, particularly the one around Chrimbo, so made a one off donation. Hope it helps in supporting the bossest LFC fan forum by fucking miles. It's a broad church which others utilise for exposure and one would hope, appreciate that fact. This thread should be bumped regularly for others in same position.....especially after a good win! :thumbup

Would it not be better to ask for a couple quid per month rather than a tenner? I'm sure there are people who could contribute more each month, some who probably can't afford the tenner though.

I normally send a tenner when you rattle the tin but have just signed up for the 4 payments a year plan. I know it's not loads but hope it helps.

Thanks to you guys above that have pledged. But I'm sure Bob will worry about the poor response in general, I don't remember a rattle plea like this when RAWKites haven't got behind the site. There are costs to running it, if £10 a month is a bit much how about a few of us pledging a £5 / month donation rather than the reactive input when the tin is rattled and we lash in 10 or 20 quid?

I've renewed my sub and upped it to monthly.

Is there any way you can set up an on going sub rather than an annual expiry? I tend to forget to renew until the tin is rattled again.

Signed up to what I could. £10 every 3 months while you can isn't so much, and a few of us doing it would help Bob not have to worry about monthly shortfalls.

As you are not aware of the running costs, why have you assumed this website 'seems quite high to run'?

I don't know of the running costs either, but for a bandwidth which handles a high traffic website, which RAWK certainly is, I expect there will be costs for perhaps a private server for starters. I am sure someone with more knowledge will respond to your question, but I just want to take this opportunity to bump up the thread!!!!

Shall set up a sub on Wednesday when payday roles round. My most visited site on the net so only too happy to pay for the service. I often forget to chip a little in so a sub is the way to go for me I think. Thanks again for all yer work lads, literally don't know what I'd do if RAWK ceased to exist.

I wasn't suggesting anything I was simply asking. I run my own company so I know what websites, servers etc... cost and seemed high. Was wondering if I was missing something to why RAWK costed so much that's all. Out of interest.

That's fine, cheshiremike. I wasn't attempting to insult you but as I stated earlier, someone with more info I'm sure will explain. It's like comparing apples and oranges - a high traffic website like RAWK is likely to be much more expensive to run than some business ones.

It's the only site in the world that is RAWK, to be fair.  :P

A new season, a new donation.  Thanks for keeping the lights on for us, lads.  :wave

This forum is not perfect. It's frequented by a gang of shady shithouses, shitehawkes, c*nts, loafers, bellends and twots.

It's like life. Nothing is ever perfect. Nor should it be.

I like this place because I'm as flawed and vunerable and weak and great as the best of 'em.

We love RedCafe and BlueMoon and Grand Old Team - their passion - their fight - their arguments - their love - we love every other forum - even those that don't affect us. Because every forum is a place to spout drunkenly. It's a place where we've seen people lose their mums, their dads, their sisters, their spouses and their fights for life.

We talk shite. We shout. We sing. We think. And wonder.

You imagine the best posters of RAWK speaking to YNWA or Red Cafe or Bluemoon or GrandOldTeam and having a bevvie. And they would. Every second of that talk would start with upmanship, snarling and anger. And after a few ales laughter, love, friendship and joy.

Cos that's us. These footy fans that follow our teams home and away. We shout and we scream. We love and we miss.

And through it - we are all what we are. Vunerable. Great. Beautiful. Strong. Fun and us.
