I'm devastated me :D

Oi Nookie,
I see BBC Radio Newcastle have just said that Cesena defender Yohan Benalouane is set to sign. Never heard of him, mind you I'd never hever heard of Tiote 2 years ago.

2 Yohan's, 2 Demba's and 2 Ameobi's :D. Gerrin' there

Heard something abot an interest in him a few days ago, but I pay no attention to Italian football so know nothing about him. If he's better than James Perch I'l take him :D

2 Taylor's as well mate.

Seems to me Newcastle are all about getting value for money. Smart.
For all the shit Comolli talks, he and his scouting network seem to have done fuck all to back half of what they say. I'm afraid Comolli never learned from his Spurs days.

My worry with Comolli is that he will focus too much on unearthing the next individual star rather than finding the right personnel for how we play or want to play.

Newcastle have been very smart with their 35m for Carroll, whereas we spent our 50m like a kid who spunks all his pocket money on sweets. I've yet to see a strategy.
£15m? It seems low, but what people have to remember is that the fee is irrelevant.

And the thing is they didn't spend nominal fees for signing their players and still have a negative net spend for all who say that net spend is the be all end all, 3.5m for Tiote, Ba on free, 10m for Ben Arfa, 10m for Cisse, 4m for Cabaye, 5.3 for Santon, combined total: 32.8m . They sold us Carroll and Enrique for a combined sum of 40m, Barton to QPR for free and Kevin Nolan to West Ham for a fee believed to be in the region of 4m, making a combined total of about 44m. That is a -11.2m in net spend and yet some on here believe that a +37m in net spend is not enough for us to get into top four, with Arsenal & Chelsea being in their worst form in years.  :butt :butt :butt

Just goes to show you don't need to spend alot to improve the team if you scout well. I personally think your right on comolli remember a spurs fan on here saying comolli talks a good game but lets give a few more transfer windows before we finally form our opinion of him. I do hope he has learned his lesson from his previous experiences and even from the carroll situation so that we aren't put in that situation ever again.

Hatem Ben Arfa to be sued by a French rapper apparently. Seems very weird  :P

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/jan/17/hatem-ben-arfa-newcastle-sued

Hatem Ben Arfa is to be sued for libel after claiming he was press-ganged into joining a sect by the French rapper Abd al Malik.

"A complaint will be filed," the artist's lawyer, Isabelle Weckstein, said, adding that Al Malik's manager, Fabien Coste, was also suing the Newcastle United winger.

Ben Arfa claimed in an interview with L'Equipe that while he was a teenager at Lyon he was sucked into Sufism – a branch of Islam – "like in a sect" and he was "indoctrinated" and "virtually cut off from the rest of the world".

He said only his "ego" ended up "saving" him after he refused to kiss the feet of the ruling sheikh: "I could not accept doing that. I didn't like what I was experiencing with them. Thankfully I managed to get out."

Ben Arfa also told the newspaper that one of the reasons he clashed with coaches in the past was because his father never told him he loved him. The 24-year-old promised he is now a changed man and is attempting to become a model professional at Newcastle.

CONFIRMED - http://www.nufc.co.uk/articles/20120117/newcastle-sign-papiss-cisse_2281670_2580079

Newcastle Sign Papiss Cissé

Newcastle United have completed the signing of striker Papiss Cissé from SC Freiburg on a five-and-a-half-year contract.

The Senegal international has signed for an undisclosed fee and will wear the iconic number nine shirt at the Sports Direct Arena.

Cissé, aged 26, is currently on duty with his national side ahead of their imminent Africa Cup of Nations campaign, but flew to Tyneside on Tuesday to put pen to paper on the deal.

The forward began his career with AS Douanes, in Dakar, and went on to have prolific spells at French clubs Metz, Cherbourg and Chateauroux.

In December 2009, he switched to German outfit SC Freiburg, where he struck 37 goals in just 65 appearances.

Cissé scored for Senegal in their final Africa Cup of Nations warm-up match on Sunday - a 1-0 win over Kenya - and that was his ninth goal from 13 internationals caps.

"I would like to thank everybody for their welcome, and for inviting me to sign for the Club," said Cissé.

"It is an honour to play for such a big club and I am looking forward to it.

"I want to pay back the confidence the Club have shown in me, and give the supporters something to be proud of.

"I am aware of the huge importance of the number nine shirt, and when I spoke with the manager he made it very clear how important this shirt is.

"I will treat it with the respect and I hope to do my very best in this shirt."

Managing Director Derek Llambias added: "We are very pleased to bring Papiss to the Club.

"It is a signing which perfectly complements the type of side Alan is building, and we are sure he will prove to be an excellent acquisition going forward.

"He has travelled a long way to come and sign with us today, and we thank the Senegalese Football Federation for their assistance in helping us secure the player."

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew said: "Ever since Andy Carroll left, Papiss was my first choice in the specific role he has at the end of the play.

"He is a finisher with an already-established CV in the Bundesliga, where we have monitored him for the best part of two years.

"Unfortunately he was out of reach, financially, for us in the summer, but it recently became apparent that Derek Llambias and Lee Charnley could do the deal in this window.

"It has become obvious this season that the team and the Club have done exceptionally well, and Mike Ashley has backed me to bring this player to the Club.

"I would like to thank Mike, Derek and everyone involved for getting this deal over the line.

"I spoke to Demba about Papiss, and he cannot wait to join up with his teammate in Newcastle.

"In the short-term, of course, he is at the Africa Cup of Nations, but the competition he will bring to our squad when he joins up with us should inspire the players and reassure them of this Club's ambition.

"Our fans know that this shirt brings its own pressures. One of the iconic numbers in world football - the number nine of Newcastle.

"It will be only fair that Papiss is given time to understand the responsibility it brings.

"As the manager, I wish him all the luck in the world to bring success to himself and this Club."

Good buy for your lot, all I can say is that it is a shame our scouts are sitting on their sofas watching Sky & ESPN just like us while yours are doing great job finding good young prospects in Europe for cheap.

Him & Ba will make an explosive force in the Premier League, two/three players for NUFC in the summer and you'll be serious CL contenders.

I trust the King, but if we lose a few more on the trot now - he may have to step aside, and we have to purchase another manager in the middle of the season. If we are relegated, this could be the end of our ambitions to win any title the next 100 years.

He's still been insane, goals conceded isn't everything, Al Habsi has been better than De Gea yet I'd imagine De Gea has conceded less goals...

We have the best defence in the league, or 2nd best whatever, so naturally Reina will of conceded less

As of now, from the start of the season up to now.

The only place we have a true edge on them is defence, Reina is better than Krul no doubt but Kruls been kind of unreal this season alongside Vorm particularly

Their wingers are better, Guttierez and Ben Arfa...

Cabaye and Tiote is better than what we have to offer

And their options upfront are miles better

They have a good goal keeper in Krul one of the most consistent and talented keepers in the world, they have a strong back four, which might not be as strong as ours but they are certainly no mugs, their midfield and strikers piss on ours, even with Gerrard & Suarez in our team, and they paid peanuts to build their team.

The fact that Cabaye, Santon and before them Tiote and Ben Arfa left their clubs who happened to play in the CL to go to Newcastle, a club on the outside was in turmoil pisses on the idea that you have to buy overrated, overpriced British talents as the ones from the continent won't come. A lot of people on here, totally disregard the fact that the PL as a league in itself is a lure for many players to come play in it.

?
Ben Arfa? Is this the Ben Arfa that has played just 450 minutes all season? ??? Give me Bellamy over him any day. As for their striking options, you mean Ba? Cabaye and Tiote have been brilliant, while our midfield have been up and down all season.

We should hire Alan Carr.
