Managed to see The War On Drugs last night in Sydney. The 'Lost in the Dream' tour back in 2014 was superb but this was on another level. All the songs off 'A Deeper Understanding' sound even richer in the flesh.

Still, highlight for most once again was 'Red Eyes'. Cracker of a tune.

Just bagged some nice seats for Paul Simon in Manchester on July 10th. Allegedly this is his last tour, although there may be one offs after these last few UK shows.

It hasn't been investing any money on the line up for years now. Embarrassing compared to European festivals. Looking back at the line up's from the naughties makes for a depressing sight.

It hasnt gone down well on Twitter people taking the piss and putting past line up from the past proving the point you said.

Wow, that Leeds Festival line up is terrible, went every year from 2002 up til 2014. Not even sure who there aiming at getting to buy tickets anymore.

Went to see The National in the Sydney Opera House forecourt on Thursday night. Fantastic band live and the new album translated well. I love how they finish a show with an acoustic rendition of Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks with the microphones turned around to the crowd singing.

Charging for LIMF now.

Fuck off.

The park should be free. What was a nice day out ruined now as it's going to be £20 a head for me and family and we can't take drinks in. I was never that arsed about seeing all the big acts anyway apart from the odd good one they'd get in.

Fuck off.

Went to see Beck last Wednesday in Melbourne, what a show.

I had lost touch with his music years back, probably Sea Change and Midnight Vultures were the last one's I listened to much. Odelay is still a big favourite. So, despite only knowing one in every three songs he played it was still a fantastic gig.

He's a proper showman is Beck.

Yes was talking about the charging in the pub with some mates, wont be going again. This is how the Food festival went as that was free initially, gets popular then introduce charges, wouldn't mind but loads of the publicity was "Europes biggest free music festival.." or some bollocks, greedy twats.

No pass out as well - you pay, you stay. so no nipping to the Lane for a break, or Tesco for food/booze.

It's fucking annoying. The park is public, I hate it when they fence bits off to make money for some corporate bastards.

The Food festival, like you say, haven't been since they started charging - I wouldn't mind if you actually got some free food with the entry price, but you don't, so fuck them. I don't want to pay to get in somewhere to pay for slightly inferior-to-the-restaurant versions of food...nah.

Foo Fighters tomorrow night in London at West hams ground. Went to Guns n Roses there last year and as long as close enough the acoustics were ok. Good venue with plenty of bars etc and looking forward to Foo Fighters again!

Anyone traveled over to Zagreb for the InMusic Festival these days?

Started yesterday and headliners were David Byrne, The Kills and Queens Of The Stone Age. It was great.

Can't wait for Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds tonight.

Just back from the Eels at Manc Academy. Funny night. Part way through and half the crowd is watching the penalty shoot out on phones. Culminates in loud cheers of course and the mood turns celebratory. Cue the lead singer saying, I’ll have to remember to play that song again! (Tongue in cheek as he knew exactly what was going on).

Great gig btw

Can understand the kick off regarding the £5 fence-off for LIMF to a certain extent. However to say they are making money is incorrect. They will make loss just like every other year. It is a shame as the old format was wonderful and the cynic would say that this is a fiver for a fence to up to be charged fiver a pint.

However, I can understand why some controls need to go in place. Back in the Mathew St festival days it turned into a pissed up kid convention and I know there were some issues with this last year at LIMF.

It was fun while it lasted but ultimately a victim of its own success and there was likely a fair bit of pressure to ticket it.

Caught Nils Frahm @ The Sydney Opera House last night. Have a whole new level of appreciation of his talent after seeing him move from keyboard to synthesizer to grand piano. Also, managed to come across as very humorous in his breakdown of what he's doing and performing.

Played for over 2 hours and literally had everyone in awe for the whole time. Main concert hall of the Opera House felt like the perfect place.

Finally got to see David Byrne after following him for 30+ years. The American Utopia set-up rivals the 'Stop Making Sense' concerts from the mid-80's.

Phenomenal musician and showman who's surprisingly spritely in his constant dance moves for a 66 year old. First time I've been to a gig where no instruments were fixed to the stage. The whole band carried them and moved fluidly over the whole area.

Can't wait for it to be issued on DVD.

Managed to see Conversations with Nick Cave @ The Sydney Opera House last night. Just him and a piano and and open mike Q&A on any questions from the crowd. Totally, unfiltered including the death of his son, his heroin addiction to what music he listens to.

Managed to squeeze in a few tunes which were at the request of the audience. With the exception of one question by some drop-kick about what he feels about the likes of the Louis C.K. the whole night was enlightening. A well spent 2.5hours.

Booked tickets to go to Mad Cool in Madrid in July. Line up is good with The Cure, Iggy Pop and a few others playing over the 3 days. Anyone been before?

Staying in a hotel in Madrid and will travel to the site each day. 8 of us going so should be good. I've done Benicassim and that was class so I'm hoping for more of the same

Going to see Thee Oh Sees in May for two evenings in row. Pretty much the only band alive I want to see ripping it up live.
