Bommie night.
So many memories as a kid, collecting wood, the injuries, the tribal wars defending your wood..jacket spuds, singed hair..
Love this foto.

I haven't thought about the rock hard, partially cooked jacket spuds for over 50 years. Still ate them even though the centre was always rock hard.

The posh kids round our way used to have their spuds wrapped in silver foil.
They did the same with their potatoes to be cooked on the bonfire.
If your moral compass is Piers Moron then I ask you to think whether someone who oversaw illegal phone hacking and published fake pictures depicting War Crimes is an appropriate person to look up to. In fact, I'd suggest you're a bit of a c*nt.

That brings back memories, albeit Yorkshire ones. In Huddersfield we called the process of collecting wood 'chumping' and the wood itself 'chumps'. Don't think this was a Lancashire/Liverpool thing?

And on that note, do Scousers of my generation (born early 60s) still think of themselves as being Lancashire?

Where I work we often have to get people to fill in forms with their personal details and I can confirm that I still regularly see Liverpool addresses with Lancashire written in the 'county' section, from patrons of a certain vintage.

No not really mate. The only time it really crosses my mind is when I'm doing a family tree search and such.

I was born in '66 and never even think of Lancashire in the address, although I do write Lancashire on my current address even though its Greater Manchester.

Born in the 50s but only thought of Lancashire as part of a rarely used postal address. People in Lancashire talked different from us, ate stew while we ate scouse and had a big, brown smelly river and they had Wigan Pier.

It's difficult to tell precisely, though judging by the cars but probably more by the haircuts, it's likely mid to late 60's since by the 70's almost everyone had longer hair.

You'll never walk alone was released in late 63 and was then adopted by the kop . I would suggest it was just seen as a football " chant " albeit a different one until a couple of years later . But some advertising person has then had the foresight to include it in an advert for walkers ales , maybe suggesting late 60s

I remember walking up the old uncovered steps behind the Kop, as a kid.

They were covered over, circa 1972-73 I'm led to believe.
