The role he was in was created for him, in part to keep an ambitious coach with first team aspirations at the club for longer.

Can't see an immediate need to replace him in that role.
Sounds fair enough. That said, you'd imagine that the loss of a talented coach would have an impact and it would be desirable to have a replacement brought in at some point, in the same way that the loss of a talented individual from any organisation would have an affect unless said individual's role had a well-defined endpoint, and it doesn't seem like Ljinders's did. In any case, good luck to the man and I hope he does well.

Well this is shit news. All the best to him, as he's been great for us. Hope TAA and Woodburn have embedded everything they can!

Might be slightly biased here, but worry he might be leaving slightly too soon for his own sake (and especially ours). Taking over mid season at a club that's already sacked a manager is a risk - wanting him to do well, I'd rather he had a smoother introduction including a preseason

Massive bummer for us by all accounts, but what a send off from Klopp - we know how carefully he chooses his words and that he means every syllabul.

Wish him well of course, and look forward to seeing him progress in the Eerste Divisie.  Wonder who we have lined up as a replacement.

Very true - only just read what he said, but what an incredible endorsement of the man. Hope to see him do well in his new career!

We may already have a replacement right at the club.  Michael Beale returned to the club not too long ago.  I’m not sure what his current role is but it would make complete sense for him to step into the role that Pep had as he has already worked with many, if not all, of the youth players in the talent group.

He was very valuable according to what I have read and from witnessing the emergence of young players. I hope we keep the role he had to nurture that small group of players making the transition.

One silver lining: Now we have a club that we can reliably loan young players to.

Gutted to lose Pep, as I get the feeling that he played a MASSIVE part in the advancement of players like TAA, Woodburn, etc..

I wish him every success in his future career, but like others have said, I would have preferred not to lose him.  Can't blame him at all for wanting to take that next step though.

Good luck Pep, in all of your future endeavours (unless, of course, you coach against us in Europe - Then I hope you get demolished)  :D

I see they are second in their league and could go top if they win their game in hand. It would be great for him if he could win the title and promotion in his first season, then try and stave off relegation from the top league. I can definitely see why he took the job, good luck!

Must have been top class for Klopp to bring him into his circle.

NEC are second in the Jupiler league. Anyone know why the manager has been replaced?

Adrie Bogers was hired as an assistant manager in the Summer. He was given the manager's role 11 days later. He has reverted to the assistant role. Sounds like he was caretaker managing and was happy to revert.

Hopefully not, far too early.

Sound, hopefully Pep does well. Ian Cathro didnt find it as easy making the step up.

time will tell! He's doing things the right way as it where, learning in different countires, in Portugal, before then coming to Liverpool and working his way up at Liverpool, and fitted in so well he gets to step up and learn from 2 of the best in the world in Jürgen Klopp and Zeljko Buvac, and now he's taking the next step as a head coach at a lower tier club. Seems like a good plan! I hope he does well, he always comes across very well in the interviews he's given, and Kloppo is a great judge of character I reckon, so Pep is probably a good 'un  ;D

Best of luck, Pep. Obviously most of us have very little idea of what any of these coaches really do from day to day, but any time I've seen quotes from Lijnders I have been impressed with his view of the game, his approach and philosophy. It's a big step into management, but I suppose it was inevitable.

Had a great reputation as a young coach when he arrived here in 2014, so it was inevitable he’d be hired as head coach somewhere else. He’s done a great job here, wish him all the best as a manager.

Here’s hoping his successor is every bit as skilled!

Im gutted with this and it sounds like Klopp his as well. I was hoping he would stay and take over from Klopp in a decade. Management is a different ballgame so its good to see him take the challenge on and hopefully he will be a big success and we could see him back in the future. If he does become a top manager the reds have really made a big impression on him that we could really be on his radar if he ever got to that top level and we are looking for a manager. I know im getting ahead of myself but i really liked Pep and im sorry to see him go. Loved the way he talked about Football in interviews. So detailed could you imagine if they had someone like this on match of the day alongside the Danny Murphy and Danny Mills types. Their fucking heads would explode.

Gutted to see someone highly rated leave the club but I guess its hard to compete with a head coach position (its not like we had one available!).

As suggested above, it could be a good place to send some players, and maybe to get some from.

I expect that unless we promote from within, the position won't be filled till the summer.

Good luck Pep!

Sorry to see him go but all the same wish him the best. Obviously, a hugely talented coach that impressed all and sundry.
