So how much is a few?

I mean if I say I’ll be there in a few minutes it’s like 10-15 but if my fiancé’s says she’ll be ready in a few minutes that’s like 1-2 hours.

The last time Klopp said a few weeks (or was it 6?) for Joe Gomez, he was out of the team for almost 6 months...so go figure. lol

On his Instagram story he appears to be wearing some sort of boot/brace thing. Is this normal for the injury?

Edit: just seen it’s pretty normal to avoid flexing the calf any further when walking. He’ll be back soon  :D

Paywalled.

Is there actual news on the injury, or is Pearce speculating based on the fact that he's on crutches?

Yeah, just an educated guess basically. Says since he's still on crutches, and the club haven't said anything, he won't be in action any time soon, and that if it IS 8 weeks as speculated, it'll be October.

So the only bit of "news" would be that he's still on crutches

Cheers mate.

I think given the rampant speculation that's gone on with this one already, I'm going to just sit tight and wait for official club news.

It was never going to be a short lay-off. As soon as the ‘statement’ came out and Klopp did his presser.

Makes total sense for the club to cover the length up, mind. Keeps a lid on the negativity.

Imagine we released a statement saying he was out for a long time - you’d have some of our fans, opposition fans and even the media losing their heads.

Good to know that although not perfect, our reserve keeper would be first choice at a fair number of other clubs.

Forget Pearce. Here's the inside story.

Achterberg: "Ali is good. He’s in every day for treatment and they try to improve things,”

“He’s able to do some fitness work in the gym without using his leg.

“It’s difficult, but you have to try to look forward and be positive. You have to try to turn a negative into a positive.

“They haven’t given us a specific time he’ll be out as it’s difficult to say how quickly it will heal. That’s all with the medics.

“There’s an international break coming up and we’ll have to wait and see how long it takes after that.”

Doesn't look like Alisson will be ready to start after the international break.
The most surprising part is Achterberg is confused with the cause of the injury. Hmmm, well with the World Cup and Copa in the last 2 summers... me thinks the guy needed a nice break.
It was only expected that one of these guys from the continental Cups will get injured.

It's really not this conspiratorial.

It was never going to be short because it was clearly a serious grade strain. The time taken for the club to scan this over a weekend and package the news (alongside post game media, and pre super cup build up) is pretty irrelevant.

We haven't covered the length up. Klopp gave a very clear estimate (while making clear it's dependent on how he heals, and we haven't any experience of his healing before)

Its just a matter of how quickly his body heals now, that's why they are being ambiguous. The fact that he can walk around like normal is probably the best sign we could hope for at this stage, let's hope he's fit by the end of the international break. Realistically we should still be able to win without him against most sides, sucks to face Arsenal without him but other than this weekend hopefully we dont have to face another top 6 side without him.

We've seen before where Klopp's quote says a player should return in 3 weeks and is feeling so good he could even start next week, and then in reality the player returns in 2 months... This is called Klopp keeping the positive vibes flowing. I'm here now to bring back the negative vibes, because Klopp is clearly forgetting that in Rocky 2 Adrian was out injured in hospital during the title fight. So, who's going to play in goal then?

That's not Klopp bringing positive vibes, that's Klopp being honest. When players don't come back in said time, it's because they've had set backs, not because it was a ploy by the manager to keep ''the positive'' vibe.

There's no set date given to the public as he may heal quicker or slower than must would, he's never had such an injury. There is an usual time period for this sort of injury, but that could differ for him. It's clear that the club isn't willing to say ''6 weeks'' if he then proceeds to have a setback and comes back 8 weeks instead.

Or the silence is that they dont have to give it out so wont. If hes walking off crutches I'm pretty certain he'll be doing some running on the anti gravity machine by now.

Klopp says he's not on crutches:

Quote
“In the beginning he was on crutches, which is normal with the injury he had. They are not there anymore, so he walks normally and he can really train completely differently now to a week ago.

“I think from now on it will go quick, but how quick I don’t know.”

Leeds maybe?
