Blackburn 1-2 Liverpool: Half time....
« on: April 8, 2012, 10:20:14 am »
Unfortunately we have another game coming up in a couple of days. Knowing our luck one of our main players will get injured/ sent off which will be in keeping with our season to date.
For that reason I will be horrified if Agger, Bellamy, Gerrard, Suarez or Skrtel play. I'd play a team comprised of fringe players and those who will be shown the door in the summer even if it means an inevitable defeat.

                                                             Doni

Flanagan                  Coates                     Carragher               Aurelio

  Maxi                     Henderson               Shelvey              Downing

                                    Kuyt                 Carroll

Another draw at best, with focus on the Cup tie.
Blackburn played well at Anfield, and will be up for this.
I'd hope Agger gets gametime ahead of the cup game.Think Carroll will start this too.

I hope that Agger is fit to start.
That's all really, no expectations from the team, let them cruise until the summer if that's all they want.

Coates to start? No way that will happen.

Personally I would go with the following team:

Doni
Flanno Skrtel Coates Aurelio
Shelvey Spearing
Kuyt Henderson Maxi
Carroll

Subs: Jones, Agger, Enrique, Gerrard, Suarez, Sterling, Eccleston

Agger to come on in the 2nd half again to build up some up match fitness. Give Sterling and Eccleston a place on the bench and hopefully can come on for the last 20-30mins.

Team for the semi:

Doni
Flanno Skrtel Agger Enrique
Gerrard Spearing
Kuyt Suarez Downing
Bellamy

Subs: Jones, Carra, Aurelio, Hendo, Shelvey, Maxi, Carroll

We can get a draw in this game if we're focused on it and not the semi.

Agger to start and get 70mins at least to hopefully prove his fitness. More game time for Flanno, Doni & Shelvey.

Sterling on the bench?

We have to have one or two eyes on the semi-final. Blackburn will fight for their lives. Gonna be hard to win.

It's just sex and violence, melody and silence.

Henderson must start, had a good game against Villa and needs confidence to build on it. Sterling could do with a cameo I suppose.

I think Kenny might rest a couple here as he has in the past been concerned with 3 games in a week causing tiredness. Can see maybe Skrtel, Gerrard, Suarez and Enrique missing out to keep them fresh for Saturday.

Doni: Flanagan, Carragher, Coates, Aurelio: Spearing, Henderson: Maxi, Shelvey, Downing: Carroll

Something like that maybe.

2-0 Blackburn. We'll be playing soft not wanting any injuries for the semi, they need to win to avoid relegation. Lack luster performance once again coming up.

Kenny's excuse: we played two games in quick succession, so the players were tired.

At the moment I wouldn't be positive even if we were playing a local pub team. Players heads seem to be focused on either the cup or the summer holidays.

Play the first team in cup games and play the reserves in the league till the end of the season. We may actually see some fucking pride.

Definately will be the fringe players' outing this. Expect to see Aurelio, Coates, Flanno, Maxi, Shelvey play and probably put in a better performance than the 1st team and maybe even win.

I'd take a 0-0 though.

I don't know whether it is better to play agger this game to give him game time (and risk him being tired for the semi final) or resting him (and risk him being rusty for the semi final).

Play fringe players even if it means defeat? Are you kidding me? Seriously? I know we've got a cup semi to follow on the Saturday, but surely we can't afford to be that blazay about our league position? We're in 8th spot behind Everton now. If we were to lose and they were to win their next league game then we'd be 4 points behind them with 5 games to go. Not to mention the fact that we're just 1 point ahead of Sunderland and Fulham, 2 points ahead of Stoke, and 3 points ahead of Norwich. Heck, another defeat could see Swansea and Westbrom right on our coat tails. Is this what we have descended to? Accepting mid table mediocrity? 7th may be the highest we can finish this season, but we should still be going all out for it. Even if we beat the blueshite next week, would you happy with them finishing above us in the league? I know I wouldn't. Imagine if I told you back in August that we'd finish behind Everton, despite our spend dwarfing theirs. You'd have probably thought I was barking mad. We need to fight tooth and nail now to ensure we don't suffer such an indignity

After the run we've had I can't see Kenny resting players as much as I'd like him to take Suarez, gerrard and agger of at half time. Let ecclestone, sterling and carra come on.

Play doni, Flanagan , Coates, agger, aurelio, downing (l) , spearing, Henderson ang gerrard right.
Carroll and Suarez up top.

Rest Bellamy and shelvey for the final and then take off the other three at half time.

                     Doni
Flanagan Skrtel Coates Aurelio
          Spearing Henderson
         Maxi Gerrard Downing
                  Carroll

Rest Suarez, Enrique, Kuyt, Bellamy and Agger - all to start for the semi final. Not sure what's going on with Johnson and Kelly, but I presume one of them will be fit for Saturday.

Carragher to start please means he probably wont against Everton. When do Glen or Kelly come back, be a bit worried about Flanno in a Cup semi-final derby he has played well against better sides but the occasion might be too much.

So what do you suggest we do then Einstein?

Should we attempt to do our utmost to accumulate as many points as possible in our last 6 games in a bid to finish 7th?

Or should we just accept the season has been shit up to now and fuck the towel in for our remaining games and just give up?

Its scary isn't it. If we were to lose or draw at Blackburn then our next league match is not until the 22nd of April and by then we could be down to page 2 on Teletext as many of our mid-table rivals would play one or even two more games than us by that time.

Kenny has prioritised the cups all season and I can't see him changing now, not this close to the 2nd biggest game of our season and after his comments on tiredness. Plus, you just know Gollum will be resting at least 5 or 6 on monday against Sunderland, which could see them win and go past us.

We are a mid table club now, that is what we have become in the last 2 years. We are so far off fighting for the top 6 its laughable. Even when we came 7th 2 seasons ago we were still only 7 points off the CL places and miles ahead of 9th place. Now its clear we are in the thick of a scrap for positions 7th to 12th.

Seems like the players have already done that, In fact they did it months ago. If we play the reserves we may actually see some fucking pride in the team, The senior players may actually wake up and remember what it means to play for a legend like kenny and realise how lucky they are to play for this fantastic football club.

But that won't happen. Instead they will continue to play like they don't really care then after the game tell the world how we have to stick together and we were unlucky etc etc etc etc.
