Koumas apparently got a red card after the scrap.  Shame about that, having missed a chunk of the season already.

Are Stefan and/or Harvey eligible for this competition? They are age wise but do you have to name a squad?

Both are. Elliott could be one of 5 overage players, Bajcetic young enough to be eligible anyway. Squad registration can change before each game I believe, not a set one like the senior competition

I think i read somewhere that if they played a certain number of games for the first team in Europe they can't go back to Youth cup games,i'm not gonna nerd out on uefa rules to make sure!

Ah right that's make sense and would be fair. Don't think either would drop down anyway now, it's rare we do that once a player is properly with the first team

Figueroa scored the equaliser and it ended 2-2. Think it might be his first goal for us this season but he's in good form following the U17 tournament with America in which they finished runners up. Hoping he can kick on because by all accounts he's a good talent in the making.

Yes, we signed an u16 Polish goalie from Hull.

The U18 team was young.  I think there were only 2 2nd year U18s in the team, the rest being 1st year, and 2 U16s, with 4 more U16s who came off the bench.

Think we have a fixture against arsenal tonight? Any idea what sort of team is travelling down for this? Think it’s free entry at Borehamwood stadium as well

Doak looked tidy and rapid, as everyone knows. Pointless red card took wind out of our sails.

Like the look of Billy Koumetio, has composure and a proper unit.

First half, Mini Reds showed some good wingplay, while Arsenal tried endless throughballs.

Was 0-0.

Doak scored 2 and assisted 2 in the under 21s today…

He’s too good for this level…
1 goal in 5 before that freak result which doesn't scream too good for that level. But goals don't seem to be his strong point something to improve on definitely even at u18 level he only had 2 on 5 in (better at U19 level) . He does appear to be excellent at creating space and getting the ball into the box for a chance though.

Whenever I've watched Koumetio he's looked great with his feet, pinging crossfield balls with either foot, but he's not been the most active of centre backs, very languid style and doesn't look like he's got the intensity that we need, especially with his physical gifts.  Similar to Origi, pace and power but doesn't really use it as much as he should.

Van Den Berg is back training after his injury, really think he could be an option next year, been very good at both loan spells and homegrown.

Saw this today also;

His top speed this season in Bundesliga v's Mane/Gnabry

Sepp van Den Berg : 33.06km/h
Sadio Mane: 32.96 km/h
Serge Gnabry: 32.93 km/h

Mental.

This top speed thing is really misleading though.  Football is all about quick sprints over short distances, not running 60m.  Sure, that kind of top speed can always come in handy, but I wish they would publish figures for the speed of players over 10 yards, not when they're running at full speed.

Don't disagree with the general point, but because we try to play such a high line, our central defenders speed over longer distances is a factor, it really is...

I get your point but I only think that's half of the equation, recovery pace is really important for how we play like turkish says.

Fair points, the ideal combination, of course, is quick off the mark and quick once moving.

Yeah about the only time it actually does mean something is for centre backs who play a high line. Or counter attacks from the opposition's corner.
So bloody what? If you watch football to be absolutely miserable then go watch cricket.

Gvardiol as CB, back up LB - 6'2
Van Den Berg as CB, back up RB - 6'3

Nunez, Gakpo, Bellingham all well over 6 foot!

Based on one live game only I didn't see any ricks, but then again Arsenal Unders didn't play with a striker. He looked a bit languid, it is true and the pinging was good.

Whenever I watched them in the U18s I always thought Quansah was the better player, but I haven't watched either of them for a while so not sure how they've developed.

We need to move Phillips and Williams on next season, a bit daft they're still here. Could use VDB as 5th choice and give him domestic cup minutes (perhaps Europe depending on competition we're in) and a full season training with the first team. Then potential 4th choice the season after.
