I think we’re going to win all 5.  15 points and top of the table after these 5.

A Bournemouth - 3
H Man Utd - 5
A Wolves - 3
H Newcastle - 3
H Arsenal WIN - 3

Oi - that's 17pts! ;D

In any case- usually you'd want to try and get through Christmas intact, but if anything- this is the right "environment" for a man such as Klopp: thriving in chaos.

Its now the perfect time to strike a blow. Not only getting through, but to win every game.

15 pts from the next 5!

Random comment... I just noticed our 3 draws vs Man City's 2, so I went back and thought I'd check all the games we dropped points we shouldn't have. Fuck me... there were none (unlike Man City).

Our dropped points:
* Draw vs Man City
* Draw vs Chelsea
* Draw vs Arsenal

Their dropped points:
* Draw vs Liverpool
* Draw vs Wolves

The way we are going, anything less than 15 points would mean that we lose ground to City. And these days 15/15 is the norm, so ya.
Ideally I'd see us getting 11-13 points here. Bournemouth could be tricky. The c*nts from Manchester will come here to play for a draw.

Ok with anything over 10 points.
This period is just too tricky.

We’ll catch up with City at Etihad.

The Arsenal game is a good opportunity for us. Arsenal have a League Cup game against Spurs soon and thus they will be playing an extra game. With Emery implementing a high press they looked pretty leggy against Man Utd and I reckon by the time they play us, they will be shattered.

We can obviously rotate heavily for the game against Newcastle, whilst having a nice mini-break between Utd - Wolves.

Likewise, City also have a League Cup game at Leicester, plus play Leicester away in the league before our game with them and they will have one less day rest.

I know those fixtures seem a distance away yet, but as this thread is about future planning then, yeah.

I think it goes without saying that our fixture list compared to City or Chelsea has been much more difficult so far and I see this continuing for the next two sets of 5 games each.

If we look at our first 20 fixtures of the season, we seem to have a tough match after every 2 or 3 matches and by tough I mean either a top 6 side or a difficult away where we have struggled in recent seasons or a traditional rivalry like the Ev or Yernited..

In the next 2 sets of 5 matches, we have Watford away (Seem to have rediscovered their early season  form) Arsenal away.. Everton and home and Yernited at home.

At no stage have we had 5 bankable wins against bottom half teams.

But in a way it's a good thing and means we have been focussed and on it from the get go.. No room for complacency, not that Klopp would allow any anyway..

Now coming to my predictions for the upcoming set of 5:

Arsenal A - 1 (Both will settle for a draw if offered a point now)
Fulham H - 3 (Can't defend for their lives.. We will smash them)
Watford A - 3 (Very tough.. But we'll pull through)
Everton H - 3 (Depends how the ref does.. and we'll do these)
Burnley A - 3 (These are shite again.. we'll pick up the win)

13/15

First time I have managed to get all 5 results correct in this thread.. Here's hoping I can repeat the trick with the next set of 5:

A Bournemouth  W  3 points
H Man Utd  W W 3 points
A Wolves  W  3 points
H Newcastle  W  3 points
H Arsenal  D 1 point

13/15 again..

Two very important developments over the next ten days, our game against Napoli and City’s league cup quarter final. Dropping into the Europa would be a massive hinderance so hopefully that can be avoided. City getting into the semis would give them two extra games in January in all probability against strong opposition and then if they make the final, they have a league game rearranged. Despite the fact they will rotate, a fixture pile up like that would still cause headaches.

Arsenal H (3)
City A (0)
Brighton A (3)
Palace H (3)
Leiciester H (3)

Reckon we'll score a few against this Arsenal defence. Yes we have to watch out a bit at the other end but think we're playing them at the right time, they seem to have wobbled a bit last few games.

The other teams we should be too strong for - especially being at home against Palace and Leicester - Palace usually aren't up to much on their travels. Leicester have done well recently against the top sides but think they rode their luck at times as well.

City away is where I think we'll lose our first game. I hope I'm wrong but they'll be extremely motivated after all that went on last season plus Pep's pride will be hurting. Aguero and KDB will be back in the swing of things too. A draw would be a great result.

Our toughest run of 5 left this season?

City, arsenal genuinely a challenge, and palace and Leicester having just beaten city...

A West Ham - 3

I'm 19/20 for the season so far, so this next 5 I think its going to be...

A Man City - L
A Brighton - W
H Crystal Palace - W
H Leicester - W
A West Ham - W

Just have a feeling City are going to sneak past us with a controversial goal.  A shit 1-0.

Has to be 15. Sad to put the pressure on us but it’s my belief, take 15 out of the next 15 and with others playing one another, that will set us up nicely for the final 12 game run in.

These games are all very doable.

I'd stopped posting here, because I always give the same boring answer - 15 pts. But we do need them now more than ever. Win the next five games, and hope to increase the gap between us and City / Spurs, so that we can focus on the CL as well.

Brighton, Palace, Leicester, West Ham, Bournemouth.

We should get 15, but I'd fear Palace - Has Hodgson lost many to us since he was sacked?

Edit: 2 wins, 3 losses.  That game could go either way.

I'll go for 13. I feel we'll eventually drop points to someone outside the top 6. It's incredible what we're doing against the poor sides but feels impossible for it to go on.

Think 13 will be fine as i think City should draw one game themselves.

So the team that's top of the league after the halfway point, by 4 points, playing their next 5 games against mid-table fodder, is capable of losing to any of those midtable teams?

No I'm saying that on the balance of probabilities, we should win every one of those games.

But your stance here about us doesn't exactly jive with your stance in the other thread that City can win 16 out of 17 games.

15. This team’s made of a Champion’s mentality that’s been forged by Klopp this last few years. A compounding of League Cup, Europa League and one of the very, very big ones, in Kiev. The last one was key, as it was a game the world went into giving Liverpool a big chance on the big stage. That hadn’t happened since 2007 back in Athens. We lost, but they got that Champion’s mentality from it.

To succeed big, you actually have to fail and lose along the way. The taste it gives you of the big time, but not the bite. It literally teases the winner out.

This season we started with a purpose of winning. The team was bolstered, starting from the day after the CL final itself (if you remember when Fabinho was announced). That was a statement of backing the manager, and from then on into pre season, we went through the motions of a proper tilt at the big time. Shaqiri even scored an overhead kick against Man Utd during it! The season starts, and we’re grinding out the wins. Even in one of the toughest month’s of football I’ve ever seen - Spurs away, PSG, Chelsea away, Man City. Literally 4 of the top 10 sides in Europe in a month. And we came out on top. A few flutters in the CL, but it set us up for one of the toughest months in world football. December in the English Premier League.

And that was blockbuster - the first real stamp of authority in the top league in Europe and the Premier League itself. Win after win, after win - 8/8. Which had never happened before. A proper Champions stamp on the League title after progressing to the next round of the CL, the competition we still have unfinished business with after last season.

Now, we’re at a point where we lost our first game in the League, a gruelling tactical and technical game of cat and mouse (and one of the best tactical battles I’ve ever seen - in fact, the City game at Anfield and Chelsea are also up there) we lost points by literal millimetres (did Hawkeye say it was 12.5mm?)

But the questions are being asked, especially after the game last night, which not only did not feature any of our absolute *core* players, they didn’t actually feature many first teamers at all. The thing with this team, and Champions, is when questions have been asked, they have to answer them in the proactive and the positive - to go out and win the next step of the process, then the next one, then the next. And they’ve done it this season (see above!) So, I don’t see any reason why we can’t do it. 15.

Ok. I don’t think they’ll all beat us. I think one of them will. They all have the ability to beat us tho.
On the balance of probabilities we should win every one of those games, yes.
Football doesn’t work like that tho. I think Man City have had their bad spell and I think we are in ours now.
We can win all 17 games left in the league, we are capable of beating everyone. I don’t think we will tho. The thread is literally how many points DO YOU expect us to get. Not what are the probabilities in the next 5 games.

Why do you think we are in a bad spell? We lost to the champions away from home, and barely against a decent team, again away, and with about 8 players rested.

Their "bad run" was much more damaging than ours.

Football doesn't work like that either.

A bit late for this next round of 5.. but here goes:

A Man City - L
A Brighton - W
H Crystal Palace - W
H Leicester - W
A West Ham - W

12 points..

I also predict that we will be 7 points clear of City at the end of this 5 match cycle as they will lose 1 match..

F*CK 0FF Mourinho..
