League cup draw and fixtures
« on: July 19, 2017, 11:21:48 am »
Looking to book work dates in September, has anyone seen any dates for further rounds of the league cup? Last year the third round was 20/21st September. Looking likely to be 19/20th September but would like confirmation.

So the draw should be just after the 2nd round which is around 22nd/23rd?

Its usually on Sky after the live game has finished (they may have to wait if games have gone to extra time and penalties)

4.15am our time!
:lmao

I can understand marketing it to Asia and stuff as that's the way football is going as sad as it is, but seriously without getting all Britain First what is the point of a draw for a cup held in England that impacts supporters of those clubs across the country who attend matches being held at a time that precludes them from watching live? It's hardly historic the 3rd round of the League Cup but it's nice to watch the draw. Is there no time it could have been done between say 8am and 11pm?

The draw for the League Cup, featuring exclusively English and Welsh teams, is being drawn at 4:15am in China ;D don't worry about the fans booking travel or anything!

I know it's only the draw but give it another decade and the whole thing will be being played abroad.

A bit unfair on the Malaysians who turned out to watch us, having to travel to China to watch the draw.

I think he was on about next years final though.

The draws for the first couple of rounds have been farcical, piss up in brewery comes to mind, sound problems during the draw meant those watching the draw were relying on graphics, however graphics showed Charlton being drawn out in 2 ties, plus a number of other teams shown to been given wrong draws, & 2nd round draw four second round matches were announced with the incorrect locations. :butt

Depending on the draw and when you wake up the next morning train prices might have increased - at least if it's after the matches you can book ASAP.

I've written this and realised that the dates of the matches aren't announced for a while after. Ignore me :D

You're onto something there. Have the European draws at stupid times, so quick Fingered fans can book their planes before the UK operators ram the prices up.

I don't understand the logic of this.

I know the Premier League is popular around the world but are they really looking to get high daytime TV viewing figures from bewildered locals for an early-round League Cup draw? It's very odd. What are they trying to achieve?

League cup is nothing to do with premier league or FA, its the Football League. The new sponsors are a chines energy drink so its part of the sponsorship deal i imagine.

Yes, but my point is, what is the point of having the draw over there, and in Asian morning time? What are Carabao gaining from this? The League Cup draw is hardly attractive as an event even here, so what are they trying to do?

It won't, no away league cup game has gone to general/members since Stoke in 2011.

Plenty already have the credits from previous years so it'll sell out easy.

LC aways a closed shop now until they do collect on day if bought to root out the touts

Unless of course we draw a Wigan, Bolton or Blackburn where we'd get ~5500 tickets
