Hysterical is the perfect word. The way they're going on you'd think the world will implode if Liverpool win the league. To be fair, they seemed to think the same about our CL win last season, and we've been so insanely unbearable this season that now and again our fans sing 'champions of Europe'. Honestly, it's amazing that the rest of the country has managed to survive such an onslaught!
I used to think Liverpool winning the league would be a monkey off the back for Liverpool but I actually think it's going to be far bigger for the rest of the league. If we do it, they can stop all this over the top whinging and crying and hopefully get on with concentrating on their own clubs.
We seem to be a national obsession these days. I don't know whether we should be flattered or completely puzzled by it all.
Funny enough, I think the country has got off lightly since Madrid. If anything, I think our reaction to number six has been understated rather than unbearable. Great celebration on the night and the homecoming, as you'd expect, but pretty low key since. If anything, it has the feeling of normal service being resumed rather than something to milk to death.
Ok, I realise to the haters that any mention of our success whatsoever is unbearable, but in the scheme of things our reaction has been pretty easy going. Champions singing about being champions is simply par for the course and everyone who becomes champions of anything will sing that.
