Just our luck. Chelsea will probably have a new manager in by then.

12 games to go?  Surely they wait till the end of the season.

Not if they think a new manager would have a better shot of getting 4th. It's only a point between the three teams.

Maybe they feel a caretaker manager would once again win them the CL...

Current APLT numbers:

Liverpool: 5
City: 0
Spurs: -4
United: -9
Chelsea: -12
Arsenal: -12

Matchday 27:

Liverpool: 5 United (A) (Win 7, Draw 5, Lose 4)
City: 0 N/A
Spurs: -4 Burnley (A) Par 1 (Win -2, Draw -4, Lose -5)
United: -9 Liverpool (H) Par 3 (Win -9, Draw -11, Lose -12)
Chelsea: -12 Brighton (H) Par 3 (Win -12, Draw -14, Lose -15)
Arsenal: -12 Southampton (H) Par 3 (Win -12, Draw -14, Lose -15)

Any result for the reds at Old Trafford puts them back top of the PL table and keeps at least a 5 point gap with city on the APLT. With City not playing a win for the reds would be hugely demoralising for Cityafter they saw off Chelsea so convincingly. Spurs can really show their title credentials by winning away at Burnley which puts them within 2 of City on the APLT and the real table. United now have some what of a lock on 4th and will be at least joint 4th on the APLT regardless of their result. Chelsea and Arsenal have must win home games to stop their seasons becoming europa league focused.
The reds are coming up the hill boys.

I think the United game is an absolute guaranteed win for them. I would eat my own laptop if we get anything.

Spurs away form means it's going to be hard to win that one. Possible draw.

Chelsea - regardless of who's in charge they will turn up for us. Probable draw.

3 wins and a draw would also be a very good outcome by my estimation.

Clearly out of your mind!

Yeah we might as well give up. No need for an away end. Barely even needed to field a side. Let's just throw the Under-18 in there, we'd lose either way.

Everton must be due to start appearing in the relegation graphs.......Quite a few teams below them are not many points behind and have a game in hand. Their fixture list looks tough as well

Wow Johnny. I thought I was being an arsehole of a pessimist, but you have me beat - and Liverpool beat, for that matter.

If we drop the 7 points you believe, we will probably end up third.

Staying on par so it’s decent in my book , hoped for a win but happy with what I’d have accepted before the match  , good chance of going +7 next weekend if we can beat Watford

We'd need City to drop points this week, as they're playing West Ham. It's the type of game they could drop points in though.

Like they destroyed Crystal Palace? Its against the smaller teams away from home where they've had their problems this season. I think its far more likely they will drop points in those games than against the bigger sides.

Only two more opportunities to gain on the APLT this year for LFC, whereas City have four remaining chances. A pessimist might say that means LFC have much more opportunities to take -3 and -2 drops.......

They may have to play more games while struggling a bit more with injuries this spring than last spring though (still being in the FA cup, which they dropped out of in February last season).

I reckon they'll drop more points in their last 11 league games this season than they did last season (5).

Whereas an optimist would say that it shows that we've got easier games to play than they do.

What the APLT really tells us is that our draw is easier such that the real Premier League table undervalues our true position. There really is no way to put a pessimistic spin on the situation. If there's a choice then it's better to have a bigger gap on the APLT than the real table.

They were eliminated early from the Champions League and the FA Cup, had the League sewn up by January. It's easy to express yourself under these conditions. This time around, they will struggle much more.

And matching City’s performance too. It seems much more common for a team to have such a dip at this time that I’d care to admit.

Keep that red line straight until the end and we'll win the league, barring a miracle finish from City. This thread is good for my sanity.
