Fair play if it's true, but it smacks of them underestimating the fan reaction over the sale and trying to make out like it's on their terms.

Will be a strange and sad day if we're turning into a development club for Bayer Leverkusen, with the greatest respect in the world.

Details emerging on Yesil's move to Liverpool: a 4-year deal, but Leverkusen can buy back for the same €1.3m LFC paid. Makes more sense now

I knew it wouldn't take long for the negativity to creep in for this kid! For me the obvious answer to this buyback thing is just what Juan said: Bayern have a very cushy right of first refusal. If that's the case, it just means that we see Yesil as a football investment and not a financial one; that we can't turn around and sell him to Barca for £25m in a few years if he turns out to be fantastic. It's a calculated and completely reasonable bet in my opinion.

Also, people worried about the "not ready for the first team" quotes? Seriously? We're paying £1m for an 18-year-old and making no secret of the fact that he's a youth team signing. We've paid a lot more than that in recent years for several youngsters who were much farther from the first team than Yesil is. Sterling, for example, reputedly cost us around £5m including addons when he was 15.

Out of curiosity, can anyone name a transfer in recent memory that did have a clause in which the buying team was literally forced to sell back to the selling team no matter what they wanted? That sort of thing can't be terribly common.

Why? There's nothing strange about it. It doesn't mean we'll lose him if we want to keep him and the player wants to stay, it only means that if it doesn't work out with him at LFC then Bayer can get him back for the same price if they want and the player wants to go back. This is not the kind of buy-back clause where the seller can buy the player back anytime they want for whatever reason.

Right so they can't get the player should he be successful?

yesil will have to agree im assuming.

i think we looked at him and saw a massive talent and if this was leverkusen's terms we agreed to it banking on the fact that yesil will want to stay here.

If the buy back clause is true than Rodgers should have a strong word with Ayre. The deals so far make sense from a football point of view but the way they are handled is a joke really.

Doesn't mean anything. Bayern can spin it to keep their fans happy.

We can just give him a new contract and make him unaffordable if the clause is ever met and he's actually the real deal.

The way i see it with the buy-back clause is if we offer him a better deal, he'll choose us, no?

Also, if we make the Champions League he would also choose to stay with us. I think Bayer put that clause in to appease their fans to be honest

So far, he's had one sub appearance for Leverkusen's first team. I really doubt we'll start him against Arsenal.
