Author Topic: Atleti Madrid fans match 21 Oct details, directions, YouTube reports, photos (Read 39563 times)

Looks highly likely that this supporters' match will now take place at 9pm.

Both myself and the Atletico organiser of this have been mega-busy lately, so sorry if things went a bit quiet, but don't worry THIS IS HAPPENING and more details will follow soon.

Oh, and of course we'll be having bevvies with Atletí suporters in Liverpool too for the return match ... maybe a suporters' match then, dunno yet.... same applies for Marseille Home by the way.

Depending on how you read the thread, it's between 11 and 14 players so far, without really trying. We need at least 18-20 definites, as past experience tells me that'll mean about 14 actually turn up.

I'm really hoping for about 18 to play and at maybe the same number again to watch ...& then even more again to come along afterwards to socialise in their bar.

couldn't come to the match in Milan as we did a daytrip for this. What was the level like? Worried that I might not be able to keep up with you lot

Oh, I hate you all... (sobs) Can't make this one - new job and I am injured until December anyway - but I'll be in for the match in Feb (we'll sort one out).

Re: numbers - he-he-he... about half an hour before the match in Milan, we only had 7 accounted for, then the cavalry arrived and put on a performance par excellence.

Hope everyone has a GREAT night in Madrid - I'll be checking up on the news, for shure.

to be honest I'd be more worried (and so are the Atletí lot ) that we'll be too good. They have never had a supporters' football event before and don't know what to expect, so I've assured them it's just for fun.

Being any good is not the point of this kind of thing anyway.

I've also told them we hope to be aged 16-60 and that we hope to have at least one woman playing again - Sez was one of our best players last time ! Anyone know if she'll be in Madrid ?

All welcome, reckon everyone who turns up with their astros will get at least half game (or less if you want). But I'll do a proper count (mainly based on the 18 or so people who've said they want to play in this thread) tonight or tomorrow, and p-m everyone pesonally for confimation they want to play and even their preferred positions.

I've been promised the final details and directions on this within 24 hours.

3 points that cannot be stressed highly enough

* the result of this match is not important, and it won't be too competitive
* this is a SoS event and none of this season's LFC kit can be worn. Please bring a red LFC top but not this year's. We'll supply shorts and socks if you don't have your own.
* it's mainly about socialising afterwards. Bring scarves to swap, etc

The match is still on, whatever happens, in Madrid on the Tuesday evening. Details up here very shortly (I know I keep saying that).

This will now probably be promoted as 'Football against the idiots'
