We want Man City to have a semi-extended run in the CL so that their squad will be stretched and they get a bit of a fixture pileup later which will distract from their league campaign. Ideal would be they face Man Utd in the next round which will no doubt be a heated affair and wear them out.

Outside of that, I don't think it really matters who we play because I think we can beat all of them anyway. We just have to focus one game at a time and hopefully we can keep everyone fit and in good form.

Would bet most of my money on City getting Porto, unless they can draw Burton Albion again.

We’ll get Spurs or Juventus.

Not sure I could take the stress of drawing United.
Does anyone know where you can bet on the draw, I'd rather bet for us to draw United to get some relief if it happens

Ideally obviously Porto and United v City. With City beating them and United retaliating by beating them in the league.

Please please be Ajax for us.

City v spurs
United v Barca
Juve v porto.

We play juve/Porto winners if it works that way.

3 midfielders minimum in the next window. And probably another young CB to boot.

Anything else is negligent.

Not worried about United over 2 legs. We're just far the better side.

I worry about playing them in a one off fixture where 90 mins is short enough for them to pull something out of their ass, which they're prone to doing the current era.

Over two legs, the better team usually wins. And you're not telling me Utd are anywhere near us.

No, they got lucky against us at theirs and we'll kill them over 2 legs if we're even half as good as last night.

Me too. But we are just bound to get one of them.

When City draw Porto on Friday, nobody will convince me that it's the "luck of the draw" and not some other forces at work. They're not even arsed about covering up their crimes anymore because they know no one is going to do anything about it.

Juve for me. Would the chance to knock them out again.

Juve would be absolutely shite.

They are a very good team plus it would be an absolutely shite away for any Liverpool fan.

I'm imagining anyone suggesting Juve isn't someone who travels away to Europeans.

The ideal draws are either Porto or Ajax. Both would be winnable. Oporto in spring would be nice. Amsterdam would be one for the away following to look forward too.

After the 2 obvious draws I'd rather have Barcelona above anyone else. Rather not have Juve for reasons stated above. rather not get an English team due to obvious reasons.

Genuinely not bothered about who we get, all I hope for is that City get a hard draw for once. We can beat anyone and I enjoy these massive fixtures, but city getting an easy draw would negatively effect our title hopes IMO. Give them Juventus please...

If anyone is finally due a good cup draw it’s surely us. Our fate seems to be linked to City at the moment though, so I have a nasty feeling we might get them again. As long as we avoid the shitshow that would be Utd. Ideal case scenario would be a Manc derby and us to get Ajax or Porto, fingers crossed.

Agree, those Italian ultra bastards are really to be avoided if at all possible. Don't care for the football or level of difficulty as I think we could easily beat them over 2 legs, but really wouldn't want a repeat of the Sean Cox situation for one of our fans. I can't believe UEFA/FIFA or the powers that be aren't harder on clubs about that. Gotta be hard if you wanna deter this type of stuff from carrying on. Hooliganism has to stop. It obviously means a lot to a lot of people but it is still just a game. It is not worth someones life.

In reverse order of who I want:

City - just no.

Barca/Juve - very hard ties that will take a lot of effort and intensity, and focus away from league games.

Utd - would strongly fancy us to progess, but another big distraction from the league.

Spurs - think we would dispatch them fairly easily, but Spurs is just not a proper CL QF tie.

Porto - easiest on paper, but a little dull.

Ajax - the perfect tie, especially being based in Amsterdam. Another European royalty match, but very winnable.

Ajax would absolutely perfect, its been a while since we played them, two teams with great European pedigree.

City vs United would be perfect.

Remember that City have first dibs on the easiest tie, as per usual.

Although I make that... Spurs?

Not sure if this is tongue in cheek or not.

Hopefully it is. I'd be amazed if any adult was seriously thinking City are bending the draws across a range of competitions and organisations to their advantage. Particularly the European draws. Not even sure how they'd do this. It's not like City have much sway or influence within UEFA or European football.

It's the luck of the draw. It's been a long lucky streak for them this season but that's all it is. What evidence is there to the contrary?

So weird.  In reading so many of the posts, we are truly a bit helter skelter with this draw.

Shouldn't it be

Top priority -----> No matter what Man City is physically/emotionally taxed in the next round
             A.  Drawing Liverpool --- we can insure that
             B.  Drawing a Prem team could possibly insure that
             C.  Juventus or Barca

All other draws are secondary to this one ----->  We can beat any of the teams left and they'll sure as Fowler be afraid of what we can do.

If its Spurs or Man United -- game on fuckers
If its Barca -------------------- its the Phil and Luis revenge
If its Turin --------------------- we kick the shit out of CR
If its Ajax/Porto ------------- we don't get a big and make use of the opportunity
If it City ----------------------- we may them expend all of their energy in the tie (and see what happens)

Think we can beat anyone over two legs. Think we suit a home tie first too.

But rather avoid an English side due to the hype surrounding it.
