fucking hell dont you start talking sense in here not with Kolo on 500K a week, and a second hand car franchise

Whatever money we got for Wilson was going to be doubled and added to Toure's weekly wage, I heard.

He's on a million a week
He's way past his peak.
He's suspiciously underweight.

A decent signing and experienced too, but my only query is will he be guarenteed a starting spot? We have Coates, Skrtel and Agger as our main defenders and last season with Man City he didn't get a good run of appearances.
My favourite all time LFC player? Tough choice.

As long as he is just a squad player then all good, seems a bit odd that Fenway are not sticking to their policy but when you look at the Van Persie signing for this season, (obviously Toure isn't gonna have same impact) then maybe they have relaxed that idea somewhat. We need a balance of youth and experience imo

Kolo, oooooh-uh, Kolo, oooooh-uh
He came from Man City
Now works for Ian Skelly

He was only a footballer from the Ivory Coast
I’m Francois, car salesman, he’d proudly boast
Even though he was soon to be wed
He landed a space in a student’s bed
She never knew his name was Kolo
His wife never knew he was playing solo
Then cheeky Kolo went all quiet
Just concentrating on his wife’s new diet

Cheeky, cheeky Kolo

Lol you are so gassed, defence is definitely our problem.

Any team that concedes three to West Brom twice, Villa, Stoke, Young Boys, Southampton, etc etc has significant defensive problems.

Then, how do you explain the fact that the team who has conceded the same number of goals as our "problematic" defence has won the Premier League title with 28 points more than LFC?

Between them, the CM and CB pairings are just not giving us enough defensive stability, and changing the CB pairing is the easiest way to improve this.

You see the problem with your theory there?

I like the fact we got a quick signing on the board and one that makes a bit of sense. Experienced and gives is squad depth. I don't think he'll be a starter but can step in when needed and as several of you have mentioned, can guide the younger CBs and take some pressure off.

They are sticking to their policy. They won't spend money on ageing players who have no resale value whilst demand large disproportionate salaries. Toure was a free transfer and its reported took a pay cut.

Get in, great stuff!!
One thing does need to be said: in the post-Benitez era, there was media-led clamour (but also some politicking going on at the club) to make the club more English; the idea being that the club had lost the very essence of what it means to be ‘Liverpool’. Guillem Ballague 18/11/10

The scouts have clearly done their homework on this one as they have all just come from City too. Glad to have him. He has been top class throughout his career. Was worried we were going to sign all younsters and no experience when we clearly need a mix of the two if we are going to be successful. Always good to have winners round the squad.

We'll see how good the signing is at the end of the window but it looks like a good, pro-active start.
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

I hope that this contract was driven by the hunger for playing regularly more so than the desire to stay in the area. Give us all you've got! Good luck!

On the assumption that a) overall remuneration is reasonable; b) the club provide funds for Rodgers to bring in a younger CB as a regular starter, this could be a good transfer that adds depth, experience and leadership to the squad.

Toure is proven beyond any doubt in England and seems to have looked after himself well enough to believe there's plenty of top flight games left in him.

People may not be convinced with his ability but surely people can see the rationale behind it. Saying "what's the point?" appears to expose an rather poor understanding of what we have lost and the need for older heads amongst an array of young and mostly unproven talent.

As for Kolo and his seeming deterioration. I'm not sure City is a great place to ply one's trade. Possibly eats away the soul if you're on the fringes of what is a capricious squad. Hopefully we can get the best out of him.

I'm quietly pleased about him being here.

Think it is a statement of intent from the club. An early deal for a good price.

He has experience at every level (domestically, European and internationally) and can lead. Cant argue with that.

Where he will fit in within the back line is the next question that we will only know when the team flies off to Australia.

Lets get some more in now

Good signing. Now if no one leaves the CB positions are very well covered.
Just get a good defensive midfielder, a rotation left back and a lefty to replace Downing and we are ready to go!

Gut feeling is he has been signed as a 1st team player to play along side Agger.

But I only judge that when we start playing again.
