I think Diogo’s is a long stretch to be honest… going by the way Klopp was speaking, so disappointed.

2-3 months IS a long time, especially in this condensed season. It's especially bad timing for Diogo cos of the World Cup.

I wouldn't read too much into the comment, it's just one of Klopp's go to phrases when we've got a long term injury.   Jota's injury is nothing like as severe as van Dijk or Ox's injuries.

I understand where you are coming from but we have history of not quoting timelines when injuries are worse than we feared. I hope Jota returns asap but when no timelines are mentioned, you are in a good place to fear the worst.

I don't think there's a calf tear that doesn't need an operation that would take longer than 3 months though.

Klopp is very vague about injuries these days. People were similarly worried about Tsimikas, Kelleher, Konaté etc. too because he gave so little away.

Agree with this.

I was convinced we wouldn't see Chamberlain for at least half the season. I was mostly convinced we wouldn't see Keita again at all (before he moved in January). Now both are back in training. There were all kinds of bullshit rumours about Konate being out for the season, and instead he initially came back in early October. In the absence of specific information, which is very much our policy on this, then people keep speculating and throwing out theories based on nothing.

Like the above post says, I'd be surprised if Jota wasn't back by the end of the World Cup or early January.

Yeah IF he doesn't need an operation it shouldn't be that bad. Probably won't see him in training until after the new year and then be careful. Leaves us less scope for rotation which was key with the attack after Diaz came in. Jota picking up an injury last season probably not helped by a long run of starts due to covering for afcon.

Shaq was out for most of the season with a calf injury but presumably needed an operation.

World Cup has come at a good time with these attacking injuries. You’d hope we’ve got enough to beat Forest, Leeds and Southampton. Pick up a point at Spurs and get through in Europe and then go again in December, hopefully with a virtually fully fit squad.
94 Corner to us. Last kick. Ali in the box and he’s scored

2 would be good for me, get a draw today and another point at home to Southampton or Leeds.

Saints and Leeds at home has to be 6. Forest are bottom and I know we’ve been pretty average this season but we can’t be dropping points today. 9 minimum.

Yeah well we've almost certainly overplayed Thiago recently given he's made out of glass.

But if this is true,

Ear infection for Thiago.

It's just one of these things and never mind!

Am I missing anyone? Hopefully most are back very soon, it’s just the knock on effect of over playing others you then worry about.

Fit enough for the bench:
Trent
Ox

Out but back soon:
Thiago
Nunez
Konate
Keita

Out a bit longer:
Diaz
Jota

We’d have battered these if we went there with a full team, our squad on a whole is not good enough to be able to lose 5/6 players.

Are we going wrong in training, or are we so worried about fixture congestion that we have become risk averse to a fault - like should Nunez had been laid off today or not?

No squad can handle 7 first team players out, plus I think we are wheeling players out half fit. Its absolutely ridiculous

I'm sure Núñez could have played today but there's an alternate universe where he starts today, we win routinely and he gets injured for a month and people are asking why we risked him with a tight hamstring.

Nobody can say what would have happened but with Díaz and Jota already out for months you can see why we weren't prepared to take any risks.

I see 3 possibilities:

Making mistakes in identifying signings
Poor training/recovery techniques
Employing tactics that even modern footballers cannot cope with.

Agreed. Playing him today would have been a real gamble.  The last thing we need is to have 3 of our 4 strikers out injured all at the same time.

Klopp sees Ajax as a more important and difficult game than NF so holding him back made total sense.

If we lose on Wednesday we might not qualify for the knockout round depending on how we and Ajax do in the last game if (I know it's unlikely but so was Forest beating us).

Three points today was far more important than three points in midweek.

Napoli reserves at Anfield as if we drop points v Ajax Napoli would be through top of the group once theyve twatted Rangers. Today was more important though if think Nunez couldn't do today then that's fair enough.

Lose to Ajax by more than 1 goal and we are very likely out. We would have to beat Napoli by better than 4-1 at Anfield or hope Rangers beat Ajax
