Or say Benzema, I think Suarez would get in the team ahead of him.

Benzema needs to improve to earn the right to clean Suarez's boots.

Bale and Ronaldo are wide players, Suarez isn't. So he wouldn't be replacing and of those.

Messi is injured and plays behind the striker ala Countinho. Neymar would be Suarez direct competition yes but if it's a choice between Suarez and say Alexis Sanchez , Sanchez would be on the bench.

Or say Benzema, I think Suarez would get in the team ahead of him.
I just don't think the spanish clubs have the money to spend on a 27 year old striker given their stacks of talent up front anyway.

Basically mate no offence to you but it's pretty obvious that teams are going to be interested.

At this stage it's all bollocks and I just get fed up of all these self-titled experts stating the bloody obvious and making a story out if it.

I think they would.

Anyway I'll stop with the possible transfer talk as I know the mods hate it. Will wait and see what happens in Jan.

Suarez shits all over Neymar as a player but in saying that I can't see Barca stumping up the fee required for his services. Real will be in for him during the Summer, I'm convinced of that. 4th is the absolute minimum requirement if we've any aspirations of holding onto him.

No argument from me, i'd have Suarez over Neymar. But the current climate at Barca is Neymar is the new wonder toy play thing, so I doubt they would pay for him.

Superb talent. I honestly wondered what sort of Suarez would show up this season, and I'm not ashamed to say I had my doubts about him being too selfish. But he has grown. His finishing is now premium and his link up play is great. Yes, we have benefited from Suarez staying but there is no doubt his game has also gone onto another level under Rodgers as well.

I think he'll be here till summer whatever, then we have 18 months left (I think?). People will need to make decisions then. The only thing we won't be able to offer realistically is the level of dominance a Barcelona can. As long as we're competing properly in the top competitions I think he'll stay.

http://www.sportspromedia.com/quick_fire_questions/charlie_stillitano_on_how_to_organise_a_pre_season_soccer_tournament/

While he does have a radio show here on satellite radio he is about as well connected as anyone. His primary work is agent, promoter etc. You can see from the article that's linked.  He is particularly connected to Real Madrid, and did say that Real Madrid absolutely love Suarez on Monday, before going in to offers to be made.

He said other clubs are going to be interested in a player who is probably playing better than anyone on the planet and who isn't CL tied. It's not an observation that demands a great deal of perspicacity.

I think the Spurs game was close. I definitely think this won't be the last time Luis scores 4 in a game. With the amount of chances he creates for himself per game, when his finishing clicks we'll get another.

Maybe one of the stats guys could whip up a chart showing his scoring-rate progression to date and extrapolate forward from that, it should roughly show that in the 34th game of the year he will score 7 and make 11 in an 18-0 win. Taking him to 75 in 29 for the season.   ;D

He'll get 5 at some point this year.

That quite honestly was one of the finest individual performances of any player in this league as I've seen. 4 goals and an assist, with 3 of those 4 absolute worldies? Doesn't get much better really. If he betters it then I really can't wait to see it!

wait till we have good set piece taker on the field, he will start heading them in left, right and center given that defenders will now also have Sakho, Skrtel and when he comes back... Sturridge to contend with

Even after spending 80m on Bale 12 months previous?

They recouped about half of that from selling Ozil, so they effectively only spent £40m approximately. If they wanted do I'm sure they could sell a couple of players to make room for Suarez (benzema, Alonso, coentrao). When they decide they want a player they usually get him- they've got that reputation for a reason (eg zidane, figo, Ronaldo x2, beckham, bale, isco, Sergio Ramos, cannavaro... The list is endless)

Charlie Stillitano, a radio personality, agent and former player here in the US said on Monday this week (and he is quite well connected in Europe) for Liverpool to brace themselves for offers for Suarez, in particular cause he is not cup tied. He also said in summer to expect an offer that will blow the Gareth Bale offer out of the water.
I hope we keep a hold of Suarez regardless of any offers and get him tied up long term.

Soooo, he said a bunch of stuff that most of us already knew. Thanks Chuck!

No surprise there. Any top players not in the CL are always going to be targets. It would probably help our cause if Real Madrid do well in their league otherwise spanish media might force them to become desperate in the transfer market and blow the bank for Suarez.

That said I dont think he will leave this season based on how much fun hes having, the fact the team is set up to serve him, and that we are looking more and more likely to get CL next season and the possibility still exists of winning the title.

Either way it would take an awful lot of cash for BR and Ian ayre to agree to let (on current form) the worlds best player leave in the middle of the season as that would in my view set them back massively in the hunt for CL, let alone the title. As weve seen at spurs even if you get a bucket load of cash it is quite tough to replace top-top talent, especially in january.

Good on him getting to the FSF awards. Whoever's advising him is doing a good job - whether it's his missus or the club's PR department.

I think huge credit has to go to our owners and BR for being firm. Also the Uruguayan manager told him that stability in his life this year will be beneficial to their world cup campaign. Of course we mustn't forget the vital part Uruguayan36 has had with the constant interviews, a lack of which will worry some.

I've got a feeling that Origi is the real deal, from a couple of games I watched but mainly his interviews there seems to be something about him.

Soooo, he said a bunch of stuff that most of us already knew. Thanks Chuck!

I listened to Stillitano's ESPN daily "Football Show" on Sirius's ESPN channel for a few months a few years back. He doubled up with Georgia Canaglia (RIP) and yes, it was apparent he was knowledgeable and well connected within the game.

The show became unbearable after Evra-gate, the pair of them jumping on the hate-Suarez/Liverpool/Kenny bandwagon, they seemed to take immense pleasure on putting down the club and Suarez at any and every opportunity. He'd wind me up to the point where I'd end up shouting back at the radio in the car!

Worth noting also that Stillitano is a huge Ferguson arse-kisser and United fan. He often had recorded interviews with Moyes' predecessor from visits to the United offices and even live phone-interviews with him. It was quite clear the two were very cosy.

I'd read nothing into his comments either. He's going to be like every other promoter, agent and gutter-hack; spread rumours based on the obvious and repeat it until it becomes fact in the public eye.
I am currently away on leave, travelling through time and will be returning last week.

I really don't understand why so many people are worried. There is no release clause and his contract runs until 2018. That's three and a half more seasons until we're under any serious pressure to sell, and even if the owners do plan on cashing in early, it's important to remember that these people made their fortune as investors. They're not going to sell a player whose value is still rising. I might start getting worried in summer 2016, but only if we're not in the Champions League and getting £100m+ bids.

Im pretty sure his contract expires in 2016, thats 2.5 years left. So a decision will have to be made this summer if he doesn't sign a new contract to get max value in transfer fees
