The Everton of the Unibond  :'(

We would be Alfreton, and if only we could be where Hucknall are  :(

Anyone often go down to Rosset Park on a wet and windy Wednesday night? Or is it just me?  :D

I used to go about 10 years ago coz me mates dad used to play for them so we got in free and could play on the pitch afterwards.  Marine were boss back then tho, used to win the league every season but couldnt go up coz the ground is, well lets face it, shite!

Happy Days tho

Anyone remember watching McAteer play for them? He didn't play too often,  but apparantely he scored the winner in the last game of a season, when they were celebrating winning the league

Dont think McAteer played for them, most famous ex player was Ian Nolan of Shef Wed "fame", might be wrong tho.  Got Robbie Fowlers autograph there when Marine were playin Liverpool reserves and he was watching, lovely stuff!

He did, but didn't make many appearances. He joined Bolton from there.

Ian Nolan's international status once cost Tranmere half a million pounds. When they sold him to Sheff Wed, they put a clause in his contract which stated the fee would go up if Nolan went on to play for England. I think Rovers now use the words 'International football' in any such transfers

Just if anyone was looking for football tomorrow night (Tuesday), Marine vs. Southport in the Liverpool Senior Cup (possible match with Liverpool/Everton Reserves being the prize). Will probably be really cheap considering the tinpot nature of the cup, and Southport will probably put out a decent side (considering they don't actually have a reserve team), and Marine will put out a good side looking for some silverware.

So yeah, it's at Marine's ground, so come along.

Not a big game really, probably be less than 200 people there if I'm honest.

I wouldn't expect it to be over a fiver to get in, these games are usually £4 for adults, £2 for kids/oldies, don't take my word for it though.

Nice article on it here
http://www.marinefc.com/news.php5?id=1586

Got this off that site "Admission prices for first team matches are £7 - £4 concessions." So that might be what it costs tonight, but might be reduced for the tinpot cup game...

if things really go bad and the yanks fuck our club right up, then marine could well end up being what FC united are to the manc fans who had enough of their club being used as a rich persons toy.

Final score was 2-1 to Marine.

For those interested, and those who may remember, Southport's number 3 was Paul Barratt and number 11, Neil Prince, an all ex-Liverpool left side

Good luck to Marine I guess, although sometimes the likes of Liverpool and Everton can't be bothered sending a team out so it doesn't get finished... tut...

Biggest result in their history?

Bad news is that because they are playing in a league that is not classed under 'elite sport' they now cannot play until the next round of the FA cup

They're my local club

It's an interesting story

They got relegated for the first time in their history in 2019... Which was coincidentally the 125th year anniversary since they were founded

However, they had spent a good few seasons before that slogging it out at the bottom, so I don't know if this Cup run happens without it, now they're in a league where they're actually winning more games than not.

Big book on their 125 years is available from the bookshop in Crosby Village if you're ever about them ways when the shops are open again (and I'm sure elsewhere)

What a shame there was no fans in to see it.

I remember them playing at Shrewsbury in the 90s and taking a good following the last time they reached the first round. They got well beaten that day IIRC.

It's much needed money in the bank anyway given the chaos of their season being suspended at the moment. Problem is, they won't play again until the 2nd round so not good for fitness.

What a result!

Used to go on and off years ago. Found an old programme recently from 1976, signed by star winger Billy Morrey who was Wayne Rooney’s uncle.

It’s a great club and I hope they make a few quid out of this.

For the FA cup absolutely. I was thinking about the league games later in December
