For Italian, I would say

Cucina Di Vincenzo's
Il Forno
Italian Club Fish
Justino's
San Carlo (but EXPENSIVE)

Cucina isn’t cheap especially as not in the city centre , fella who owns cucina also owned il forno but don’t think he does now

For italian - not super fancy but have to say we had a great time on rudys on bold street last time. Thought it would be a slow sunday but pretty busy, great food and service / decent priced

The girl who’s the chef there got to the semis of this years professional Masterchef. The foods boss and it’s a really nice place with a good atmosphere. Going back in mid March and can’t wait.

Not a restaurant but a cracking independent coffee shop in Woolton is One Percent Forest. Small menu based on Scandinavian flavours but it's the coffee that shines, especially this morning.

Sorrento in Formby is always extremely good, great atmosphere and the owners are big Liverpool fans.

Used to live in Woolton, fantastic place is Once Percent. The hot dogs were always great, and coffee is certainly top notch.

Any shouts for somewhere nice in the city centre for a Valentine's meal? We're planning on doing Saturday 11th rather than the Tuesday. Something smart without being crazily expensive would be nice. Happy to try whatever, steak, Italian etc.

Looked up Gaucho (which looks pricey), Hawksmoor among others. Any opinions would be welcome.

Haven't been to Liverpool Hawksmoor but if it is as good as the others it is stunning, if steak is your thing. No other steak restaurant gets close. We like all the usual places; Bacaro, Salt House Tapas, Lunya, Bouchon etc etc I think Lerpwl is stunning as is Lu Ban

Cowshed for me - I think the food is nicer than Hawksmoor. It's nowhere near as grand but it's a lovely little place.

I've been meaning to do Cowshed for ages, but it's fully booked.

I took Mrs Cigarettes to The Refinery yesterday and it was great.

They have a Wine & Dine offer on a Thursday, which is two courses and a bottle of wine per person for £22.95. On a Thursday, they also have a live singer in the evening.

It was nice to see that Diogo Jota is keeping himself busy.

Good to see Mr Ciggies alive and well

Went for my free Pizza at Rudy's last week so thanks for the tip :D

Didn't know we got 2 pizzas free. We were fully expecting one to be free but pay for the other one with extras and drinks. So shocked when we got an £11 bill for just 2 cokes and the 3 dips.

Lovely pizza. But the Albert Dock one isn't really suited to an evening date/meal vibe. Very cramped. The Castle street one and the one up by the bombed out church has a bit more space.

It's more a late lunch after a walk around town kind of place

So at the suggestion of this thread, I went to Sanskruti this evening.

Absolutely amazing, absolutely astoundingly good. Very much to be argued as the best Indian restaurant I have ever been too.

Of note, the Chutneys in the Chutney Plater were amazing, the Palak Dhal was so nice. I had the Makhamwala Paneer curry, which was so good, and my dad had the Vatana Bateta which I had a try of, and yeah that was so so nice too.

Would HIGHLY recommend to anyone

I think it's location. It is kind of off the beaten track when it comes to city centre restaurants.

But the food is incredible

It is this, not somewhere you come across while walking down a road. You have to know where it is and hunt it out.

Really good food, best punjabi food I've had in Liverpool.

Visited the Elif on Bold Street yesterday, still fantastic food and if you visit before 5pm it's a starter and a main for £15 which is great value. Was surprisingly busy, but we'd booked a table in advance.

Can't go wrong with Elif. The Bold Street one seems to be the best as well; service and atmosphere is good in there. The one they opened on Childwall Fiveways was poor the last time I went a few years ago. The service was shocking and there was hardly anyone in there.

Never been the Five Ways one, been to the Lark Lane one quite a bit though as it's a favourite of my dads.

Nah, more a classic indian rather than small plates - all veggie / vegan so a bit like Bundobust in that sense

Free State Kitchen or Fat Hippo for me.

Ohannes burgers are really good too but it's more of a takeaway place I think.

I think there was a similar question last month or so. For me it’s FSK but if you want proper big burgers that are great, I don’t think you can beat Red Dog on Bold street. Not cheap though. https://www.reddogsaloon.co.uk/food-drink-menu

He’s mental this bloke and the video goes on a bit but loves the burger. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4hgwMz4vLo

Another good review https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNAq0ZfuxBk

I was left disappointed at both Fat Hippo and honest burger.
