10% at a $7bn valuation is nearly 3 times more than FSG bought the club for. For ten percent.. some business from FSG...

Obviously includes Red Sox too

They deserve it, not many wanted to pay what FSG did at the time, they played their part on the club being worth what it is today

They owe Klopp a transfer budget; he's done wonders on a fantastically competitive net spend.

Where's the Mbappe money, Redbird?

We can have the LFC version of that Everton-Moshiri cartoon:
-Redbird buys 10% of stake in FSG for $750 million.
-Liverpool have $750 million in cash.

Two different things Craig.

Redball was a SPAC setup up by Cardinale and Billy Beane even when Redball failed to get the requisite funding it was reported that Cardinale wanted to invest.

The interesting thing for me is Cardinale buying a chunk of WMG. That is the agency that has pretty much every TV pundit on it's books as well as the likes of Gerrard and Gary Mac.

How long before Redbirds owner, snaps every single ligament in his cheque signing hand, ruling him out for at least 8 months?

It’s not that at all.

It’s a return on investment for FSG members. They’ve made money by increasing the value of their assets.  This is how they’ve realised that asset.  Probably covered most of their investment off for only a 10% dilution

I’d also imagine most of these guys aren’t doing tremendously well in the current climate.

So, sorry .. this isn’t about Mbappe. Far from it

The Redball SPAC only came to nothing because they couldn't raise the money from investors. That was for a 20% stake and would have meant going public, which was always going to be a problem because of how secretive MLB owners are.

This is for a 10% stake and FSG will stay private.

Still same company buying a stake though... just all rumours.

It isn't the same company.

Redbird is basically Gerry Cardinale, Redball is Cardinale plus Beane, plus the likes of Scudamore.

Redball was a SPAC specifically setup to buy a stake of a sports team with investors money and would have been listed. Redbird is a private company who will be using existing funds.

This is such an interesting one - the Echo podcast on it was saying it was as much about the want to work with Billy Beane as anything else.

Is Beane involved?
