i think his plan was that he was told by widow twanky and fat joe he’d get a new stadium thanks to the commonwealth games and a slice of the Liverpool waters development so the club would be worth around 3/4 times what he paid for it plus any other money made on the development, problem is that’s gone a bit tits up

And with regards the arsenal comparison, most would look at the two and see one has a lot of people who would have interest and the other where they have spent over a decade to get someone to come in.

I'm no economist (miserably failed O level) but doesn't the economy go in cycles?

H&G bought us 12 years ago, banking crash, economic downturn etc,. The economy has picked up, falteringly, but may be heading for another cyclical downturn and not the time to invest in risky ventures.

And all this faith in Moshiri. Didn't he gain his wealth solely on the basis of his relationship with a man who had the access to plunder the wealth of a whole entire nation?

Everton's lack of business acumen is demonstrated by the appointment of a well meaning academic as CEO.

Just seen there Everton’s next 4 home games, us, Chelsea, Arsenal, united.
Lost 11 of their last 17 away games with only 3 wins in the 6 others.

Are they too good to be relegated?
There’s most certainly going to be a scrap come May.

And their last game is Spurs away.

They’re not too good to stay up. But I think there’s enough teams worse than them to keep them safe. If Cardiff beat them and other teams get their act together and they get reeled in to within about 5 points of the drop zone it could get fun but realistically a couple more wins will open up a gap again.  A few teams below them will fancy their chances of overtaking them but it’s asking a lot for that many teams to all get their acts together.

I think United are their one, true love.

City are just an upmarket escort, bit rich for their tastes.

These are hilarious.

No pride, no dignity, no self awareness or respect, a laughing stock up and down the country, bookies taking the piss out of them, drop their knickers at the sight of red and blue manc whilst taking anti scouse shit, a ground that`s never going to happen, sold the family silver and pissed it up on the wall, a shit squad with no money to improve, yet another manager on the brink of sacksville.

"But but but we`re a big club and we`re fucking rich" they screamed from the roof tops.

Haha fuck off you nothing blue entity, how does if feel to be a laughing stock and someone`s wank sock?  :wave

Next level genius.

"in no way can they be considered favourites now. city's only challenge left is utd away. spurs will put up no resistance to them. i would expect a similar hammering to the one they dished out to Chelsea today.

the RS still have Utd, Spurs and Chelsea. they are bound to drop points from those 3."

The weird part about the stadium is still this 500m number....this is for a project that will take some major engineering, environmental, and safety issues to complete all while the cost of building isn't coming down - it's staying flat or increasing. While London is different - the 1B for Spurs Stadium is at least instructive in that The Ev are demanding a 55-60K stadium and if you build it, you might as well make it nice (so top line shops, eating, corporate, etc).....

500m is a pipe dream for the final cost. And of course they won't settle for a 40K seating stadium - though it would probably be more financially prudent and logically (and logistically) sensible.

I fully expect Brexit to kill this concept in its current form, to be revived in another two years with some other cock and bull location for similar amounts of monopoly money.

We all know Everton haven't won a trophy since 1995 but that is the only trophy they've won since 1987!

32 years and counting.

And one other point - in the intervening period Newcastle and Leeds at least had a crack at glory, albeit short lived, with good, attacking football.

And both teams had to endure relegation.

Said this a few times down the years

Since 1939 theyve won 8 trophies!

THATS 8 TROPHIES IN 80 YEARS!!

4 of them were in the 80s in a 4 year period between 1983 and 1987! And 3 in an 8 year period during the 60's

So during the 1940s, 1950s, 1970s, 2000s, and 2010s they won nothing and won only 1 in the 1990s!

3 between 1939 to 1983

The first in 1962.The last in 1969-70

So another 23 year period from 1939 without a trophy

I think theyre brilliant fun

Have said similar several times myself.  They're pretty much playing to par. Other than all their "firsts" and being a founding member of the football league, they mostly seem to believe they should be more successful because we are. Or that if we never existed all these titles we have won would somehow magically become theirs.

£30 million was all they needed :lmao

https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/spiralling-costs-may-lead-everton-to-pull-out-of-stadium-move-128370.html

Everton's proposed move to a new multi-million stadium at Liverpool's King's Dock is on the verge of collapse as the club's board contemplate reallocating the funds to their manager David Moyes's high-flying team instead.

The club have carried out a feasibility study into the move and will make a decision shortly about whether to proceed, but they are now likely to pull the plug.

The sheer cost of the move is worrying the club's owner, Bill Kenwright, and his allies, and any available finance may now be diverted to Moyes. Everton must find £30m in three weeks to have a 50 per cent stake in the new development, which will take around £160m to build even if it is given council agreement in the first place. To find the money would mean a long-term mortgage at potentially crippling lending rates and that would jeopardise Moyes's rebuilding. That bill could run to almost £60m in repayments.

As Everton need money to sign Joseph Yobo from Marseilles on a permanent basis and also give Wayne Rooney a contract to stay rather than cash in on him, they have to channel funds towards the players rather than a ground. Kenwright is also concerned that putting restrictions on Moyes could result in his departure.

The former Everton striker Gary Lineker hopes to make a bid to rescue his first club, financially troubled Leicester City, by the end of this week. The former England forward is part of a consortium set up to try and save his old club, and with his associates Greg Clarke and Jon Holmes believes he has attracted enough capital to help put the First Division side back on an even keel.

The bolded bits had me in stitches :lmao

Controversial. But if they had that stadium. Citys owners probably would have bought Everton, not City.

If every trophy is a DVD, they would have the same amount of DVDs as...

- Harry Potter
- Fast and Furious
- American Pie
- Deep Throat
- The Mummy
- Saw
- Star Wars
- Alvin and the Chipmunks
- Rocky

.. from the top of my head!

Which brings me to the question - Where the feck is the 1939 Trophy DVD?

"No Premier League title though".
Someone should do the right thing - go back in time to 1992 and destroy the codes to Championship Manager before it is ever released
