Can't remember the last time we were outplayed like this. Nowhere close to the level required. Need a significant improvement in the second just to stay in the tie.

Keita will get the flak, but Wijnaldum has been atrocious.

He has.
As have Trent, Robertson and Phillips ... could probably go on

Most of them look lost

Odd how Keita is ahead of Jones in the pecking order. Regardless, leaving Thiago out was a mistake.

We’ve been completely outclassed, it’s not often you can say that about this team in recent years.  Bee look like what we are, a side low on confidence, out of form and with a makeshift defence.

It will need to be a marked improvement if we’re still in with a shout come 90 minutes.

Wait, did Keita come off injured or something? I was only half watching and heard Thiagos name.
He was shite but id say injured the way he came out of defense that time with the ball on the break and just hit a sideward pass , he was subbed just after or Klopp was just sick of the lack of effort - Gini is having a shocker as well.

Very odd decision not starting Thiago after the Arsenal game, Naby was a bit undone to be honest he was off the pace and not the game he should be starting expecially after such a long lay off.

Klopp its on you that one. In saying that we have been slow, sloppy and not at it at all.

Incidentally, I know it's a training pitch but it's absolutely tiny. Little wonder they can play those long passes at will when we're maintaining a high line.

Getting taken off before half time in a CL quarter final. If that's not injury related, it's worse for the player.

Someone tell Real they are supposed to be shite, as that's pretty much all I've heard in the build up to this.
I thought they'd been superb at not letting us play, pressed us and not let us settle. You can't let a player with the quality of Kroos have that much time on the ball.
Anyway, we can get back into this.
Come on Redmen!!!

Genuinely though Keita was the playing the best out of our midfielders, at least on the ball.. Says more about the other two than him though.

Played absolutely terribly, yet its just two defensive mistakes that have cost us.

The thing that gets to me --- is that when our pressing was not working early (and Real grew confidently into the game), it looked like we settled for that, instead of working harder to imprint the game.   This should be fucking slugfest -- instead we're pissing the ball away in our half and not able to break through Modric and Kroos...

Its bizarre..

That was bloody awful, especially Keita and Trent. The tie could be out of sight very, very quickly. But on the positive side, we're only a quarter of the way through. Get an away goal, concede no more than one in the 2nd half and we've got a chance. Not looking likely, but stranger things have happened.

We've been absolutely crap so far, but having said that - it was a clear foul on Mane before their second.

Had the ref done his job properly they don't get the chance to score that second goal.

There's losing the ball under pressure and then there's just sloppy passing.  It feels like there's been far too much of the latter - even Gini laying simple balls to nobody.

We've tactically made it too easy for Real as well, slow attacks that let them fall into their deep shape and get tight to our forwards and then not cutting off the age old tactic of firing the ball in behind Trent where just Nat is left to cover a third of the pitch by himself.

I'm guessing Naby went off with a knock but he was struggling anyway.  Strange game to finally rest Thiago for and hopefully his presence can salvage something in the second half.

Sadly Keita not up to speed, had one run in the game and otherwise not engaged. No pressure on Kroos, ball over the top is simple against our defence at the moment.
Whole team is looking like strangers at the moment. I no Jota is on form but I think Bobby would be more suited to this.

Madrid have learned lessons on the games we have been poor in this season, no one in commentary is really mentioning it but at times Real are playing 6 across the back and then launching forward to behind Trent. Quite a conservative approach but clearly working.

Foul on Mane is blatant and poor from the officials not surprised he has complained. I hope the ref looks at that at half time and sees his mistake.

Big second half now. Need to keep calm and get one back.
