Didn’t want to bring it up but is his name being pronounced wrong? Keep hearing Davis like Steve Davis the snooker head, where as it should be Daveees as it’s spelled Davies?

Pronounced the same either way on the whole. Kevin Davies was pronounced Davis for example. I’m now going to check what his name actually was and will no doubt be proved to know nothing.

I just thought Davies would be Welsh and pronounced in that way. Could be totally wrong but that’s never happened before..

There's a little signing video up on the clubs YouTube channel. Standard Q&A with a new lad sat in a dressing room. Only Davies sounds like he's simultaneously shitting himself and just won the lottery

- academy graduate

Backup
- a free transfer
- a midfielder who was a free transfer
- 20m signing from Southampton

From that, we can conclude that we only spend big on defence if we’re buying from Southampton.

That is really interesting.
I wonder if Rhys had some role to play in putting the name in the ears of the recruitment team and of course Klopp, at some stage.
In any case, real feel good story seems brewing here.

Klopp will be keeping one of Fabinho or Henderson back there - probably with Phillips first. Kabak is a possible star so I expect him to play a lot too.

I've only seen clips of him and the thing that struck me most was his calmness. He just seems insanely unflustered by pressure from the opposition and has a sense of timing about the way he tackles. He's like Klavan Mk II from the little I've seen of him.

I think he may surprise us. PNE were hammered by City a year ago or so. Davies showed good positional awareness, though, and read the game well. Struggled on 1v1s against Sterling, but no more than many PL defenders. Some highlights here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlYAdUKmPho.

I think Brighton will be a debut for him. Brighton are a football playing side, he will be decent against them. We will need Fabinho against City.

Honestly think he'll start with Phillips. Hendo back in midfield, and ready to be moved to CB if it doesn't go well.

Wonder if he's ever played against us? Don't we play summer friendlies against them now and then?

Really quite happy about this signing, he brings a bit of experience to our extremely young or out-of-position defense. Just stay fit lad !
