Iago Aspas' difficult start to his Liverpool career continues. The forward has been ruled out for up to six weeks with a torn thigh muscle.— Tony Barrett (@TonyBarretTimes) October 18, 2013

its actually rectus http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rectus_abdominis_muscle

Wrong muscle. It's the Rectus Femoris.

Aspas made a typo, it is his thigh muscle known as rectus.

Wouldn't be surprised if he dribbled past Sakho in training and he gave Aspas a torn rectum as a result.

Having a really bum time of it. I liked the look of him in preseason and even the first couple of games, really unlucky the way this has panned out. He's going to start getting compared to 2012-13 borini unfortunately. Hope he proves his mettle and comes back stronger and raring to go. We may need him firing for us come a tough December depending.

not impressed so far competitively (although he did well vs stoke)

Definitely worse for the player than it is for the club at this moment.

Hate to make this comparison, but Aspas' first season is starting to resemble Borini's little by little. It's bad enough for the guy that he doesn't get any game time since LFC aren't in any European competitions and having to compete with Sturridge and Suarez for game time in the Premiership..and now this.

That hill is getting a little too steep to climb for Iago.

Great. Now an injury to one of Sturridge and Suárez and our tactical formation needs to be changed.

On top of that, this cannot help Aspas' adaptation to the english game. It will hinder him further, though maybe he can use this time to work on his physical attributes that needed addressing regardless of the injury.

Yes.
Came on as a 67th min sub against Spurs Monday last week.
Almost scored with virtually his first touch (hit the inside of the post).

The thing is, Aspas will 'only' miss 4 games in those 5 weeks. If this happened at the end of November, he would miss 8 or 9 such is December and early January pile-up. Let's hope all our injuries and niggles are put right by the end of November because we need all hands to the pump for that mental period.

Am I horrible to hope it means he gets rests through Saturday, and that allows Allen/Hendo to both start?

Rodgers said before the West Brom game he should be back in the squad travelling to Arsenal. So you'd expect him back for Fulham unless he's suffered a setback. Seems like he's had this knee problem for a while, I seem to recall him missing the early part of last season because of it?

But, but... friendlies are so important... How else can England lift the World Cup ever again if you don't play a full strength team in friendlies?
