Yeah includes games, extra controllers, carry case, screen protectors etc.  The margins are very high for these so retailers love them.

I can imagine. I mentioned in here when the price was first announced that it was too high for me to be able to justify buying a Switch however it wasn't just the console price I was referring to, it was all the accessories that I'd probably end up feeling the need to buy that just keep increasing the cost. With Nintendo stuff I always seem to buy shit loads of accessories whereas with my PS4 all I've bought is an additional controller. I'll probably cave in eventually when there's more than just Zelda that I want.

I'm actually quietly impressed with the battery life so far.

I played half an hour of Snipperclips and a good hour of Puyo Puyo Tetris (which is fuckin' awesome) and only lost 20% battery life.

Going to test with Fast RMX later to see what the difference is.

Are they decent?

Love Mario Kart and see that is out soon.
No, jazz. You fear jazz. You fear the lack of rules, the lack of boundaries. Oh look, it's a fence. But, no, it's soft.

Great start in the US

Quote
REDMOND, Wash., April 13, 2017 – Nintendo Switch, the new home gaming system that people can also take on the go, has sold faster in its launch month than any other video game system in Nintendo history. The Nintendo Switch system sold more than 906,000 units in March, according to the NPD Group, which tracks video game sales in the United States. That makes Nintendo Switch one of the fastest-selling video game systems of all time. Notably, this sales surge was accomplished in a nontraditional month for a console launch.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild game sold over 1.3 million units*. That total includes more than 925,000 units sold for Nintendo Switch and nearly 460,000 units sold for the Wii U console

Lol at Zelda selling more copies than the platform. Over a 100% attachment rate!!!

For reference:
PS4 Launch: 1138K
Xbox One Launch: 909K
Switch Launch: 906K

Considering Switch released outside holiday season its pretty impressive.

Are those figures for shipments to retailers rather than sales? The hardware supply is constrained, Zelda isn't.

No NPD tracks sales to consumers.

Zelda will have people purchasing the game waiting for the hardware to get in stock so that likely explains the over 100% attach rate.

Looking on amazon Mario Kart 8 uk's 5th best selling game of 2017, on amazon.com it is the third best selling game of 2017 and that's two weeks before release.

May could be a huge month for switch as long as it's stocked well enough as Mario Kart will shift systems.

I have to say, after my initial backlash against the Switch, which lead me to cancel my pre-order, I've been loving it.

I've bought a ton of content from the Nintendo Store all for less than the cost of a PS4 game - Shovel Knight, Fast RMX, couple of Neo Geo games and Graceful Explosion Machine (ok, maybe a little more than 1 game) - and am getting exactly the experience I want from it - Compelling handheld gaming on the sofa and on the move. The battery canes on fast RMX but it's genuinely good to excellent on the less demanding titles. I reckon I'm averaging 6 hours gameplay a charge, which is about what I get on my 3DS.

Have pre-ordered MK8 as I never got around to all the DLC on the Wii U and that will take us nicely into the summer when Splatoon 2 is out.

It's dope. I just wish it had a Dpad. I can't play the neo Geo fighters in handheld mode without a Dpad.

Having put a few hours into Shovel Knight I've got used to the left side buttons - they're not a million miles from the general construction of the PSP. It was a mild pain to begin with but totally got used to it now.

The laws only really apply when flying in to and out of the countries on the banned list: Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Tunisia, Egypt, or Saudi Arabia.

The size of the Switch with joy cons removed is smaller than the max. dimensions of what's allowed to be taken on board even on those flights, so in theory you'd be able to take it on board a flight to Saudi.

UK - US no problems.

Psyched for Mario Kart tomorrow! I didn't finish Zelda yet (But that's largely because I've been enjoying it so much that I don't want to reach the end). Will be great to have another game to alternate with, and the reviews look really promising.

The Wii U version was amazing, and this is the same but with all the DLC tracks, better framerate (from 59 to 60fps) and a proper battle mode so I'd bet my house on it being fucking ridiculously good.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild: 3.84 million (2.76 Switch, 1.08 Wii U).

It should have been DOA too, incredible that 2.74 million people bought a console to play a game they didn't need to buy the console for. I guess that's 2017 in a nutshell though.

Yeah it's significantly better in every way, having played a bit in my roommate's. I think it will end up being great too, I just can't imagine paying for it with only one (technically last gen) game available for it. I'm probably getting one, but I think the 3D Pokemon will be the one that does it for me (assuming all the wishing pays off).

Weird that they've sold more copies of Zelda on the Switch than the actual Switch itself. I'm not surprised it's pretty close to a 1:1 ratio though, until Mariokart was released it's the only game I would have been interested in buying and it has been by far and away the biggest reason to buy a Switch.

I'd love to have a go on one of these but unfortunately I don't know anyone that has one :-\ I don't have the money or the justification to buy one yet either although I'm sure that will happen eventually.

I suspect the extra copies were thousands of scalpers speculating on Nintendo not releasing enough copies to satisfy demand. Always nice to see them getting burned.

Think I've just talked myself into getting one of these eventually. Once Mario Odyssey is released I'm going to have to have one so I might as well start working on the wife to persuade her she'll love Mario Kart, hopefully I'll get her to go halves.

Can't meet demand. It's flying odd shelves.

Quote
Gamestop stores across the country may have gotten new shipments of the Nintendo Switch in advance of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe release, but if you didn't already know that probably missed them. Nintendo's new hybrid living room/portable console started flying off of store shelves on day one, and it shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon. It's good news for Nintendo, a company that badly needed a win with its core console business after the tepid response to the Wii U and good news for the Nintendo fans that have managed to get their hands on one of the things.
"It's exceeding our expectations," he said. "We knew it would be a high demand product, but our Switch allocations are selling out not in days, but in hours...the demand is so high that consumers have to react quickly to be able to get their hands on them."

And while specific predictions about future supply or demand are tough to come by, nobody seems to be banking on supply stabilizing any time soon. At this point, demand still seems to be riding a launch window peak where machines are selling out immediately, at least for all intents and purposes.

"Right now we're not seeing sales going down at all, and I would expect that to continue for quite some time," said Bright

I said it months before its release, it'll fly off shelves. Wait until Christmas: it'll be the Wii all over again, maybe even more mental to try and get a hold of one. Selling nearly 3 million units in 2 months is nothing to be scoffed at. It's not peak time to sell hardware either.
