Worst I've seen it for a long long time but it had nothing to do with our first goal. The keeper was totally at fault and tried to blame the pitch.

Thought the same thing. The ball was bobbling all the way and Lloris just didn't get it right...

This article is from December but basically Brendan is saying they will relay the pitch at the end of the season.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/brendan-rodgers-reveals-liverpool-relay-4873302

"We will be getting a new pitch next summer to help the speed of our game," Rodgers confirmed.

"It is an old pitch that has not been upgraded for some years and it can be a disadvantage for us. It is difficult to play one-touch football on it.

Any idea if the watering system is getting updated too? Rodgers stated a while ago that the whole infrastructure(watering, base, etc.) of the pitch is outdated. Surely this can be updated during Main Stand Expansion.

What's the scope of widening the pitch too? Just hypothetically speaking. I know we have one of the smaller/narrower pitches of the bigger teams.

The pitch is more or less the same width as most the others in the PL. It's a little shorter but there is no chance of it being made much (if any) longer due to sight line issues from the back of the Kop and lower Anny Rd.

Shouldn't the manager complain if he's not happy about the playing surface especially the way we like to play?

Looking how the pitch has gone this year it would seem his comments were 100% right too, and should probably of been acted upon last summer.

Quite a few on here had a go at him for it, saying it was an unnecessary pop at our "fantastic groundkeepers" or something. Strangely they haven't shown up in this thread yet...

The pitch isn't even PL quality at the moment.

New levels of nerdiness on RAWK this.

The pitch is fucked because the weather has been shite and it's been a while since it was re-laid.

It's gonna happen in the summer, do we really need a thread about it discussing the watering mechanisms and lighting techniques?

Fucking hell.

To be fair, his first complaint was quite general, leaving it open to interpretation that he was blaming the ground staff. He then clarified it and praised the ground staff on his next comment about the pitch, iirc.

Don't think that will affect the pitch, being as the sun mostly shines over the Centenary Stand.

It hasn't just been the weather. Our manager has been mentioning the state of the pitch since November.
"I was pleased also with Peter Crouch. We have been talking to him, before and after his nose operation, to show more confidence with his heading.

"Now it seems to have worked. Lets say that if he has a few games without scoring again, maybe we should arrange to break his nose again."

It is if one team plays a fast passing game and the other prefers to lump it up. Rodgers seems to think it makes a difference too

Question is, why wasn't the new pitch relaid last summer? Would have pre-empted this shambles. It's embarrassing the state of the pitch.

Pitch looked quite good last season. I can think of games  vs Arsenal or Everton and the ball was just gliding off the surface. Perhaps the pitch just deteriorated really fast.

Only if they have the same players and the same playing style and the same strategy for that match. Pitch on Sunday should be good.

What is up with the pitch? 2 games in a row now it's looked like an absolute bog.

Or am I being too harsh?

Looked terrible against Spurs. You can see it's not great as standards we are use to but it's not a problem what so ever.
