Underrated player and sad to see him go. Love the reaction in here with lots of well wishes though. Shows he made his mark in his time at the club.

Good luck Shaq.

I don't think he quite suited the way we played, but he is certainly a player of great quality. He is a number 10 and we don't play with a traditional #10.

Thanks for all the great memories Shaq!

I think one of his best individual moments for pure technique was his cross for Mo versus West Ham. Sometime forgotten but that goal was an outstanding goal and his first time cross was an outstanding part of it.

https://youtu.be/EqFw7s3NI-U

Speaking of first time hits, his slotted finish of a great attack against Everton at Anfield was a lovely bit of technique too. Did it so well it made it look much easier than it was.

Horrible link but it shows it here, second angle is the best. Got over and around the ball, having just held and timed his run perfectly to break the line too.

On the verge of signing for Chicago Fire in the MLS.
He will be the greatest player to ever do it over there, if he stays fit. Zlatan was excellent over there, Giovinco maybe the best and Insigne is still good enough to go over there and dominate, but for technique, quality and ability to execute, he's got to be the greatest player ever to sign for a club over there whilst still a good age (excusing that Insigne is joining in the summer).

In terms of profile Shaqiri would be right up there but Josef Martinez at his best is the greatest I've seen playing in that league. When Almiron was there Atlanta were unlike anything the league had seen in terms of attacking impetus.

Yeah I liked Martinez pre-injury. He's still one of the best strikers in the league but hasn't maintained the wild goal rate he had for his first three years in the league. Obviously Almiron was shit hot in the states and got his big move, why did Martinez never move? Was his poor time at Torino held against him, because he was only 23 when Torino decided he wasn't good enough.

He's probably missed his opportunity in Europe now, just interested to know why nothing ever materialised (or did it and he preferred the adulation and success in Atlanta?)

My impression was that he planned to follow Almiron out after another year, then got badly injured...
