So, we play them twice at their ground in the space of a few days then...

Had to google Carabao, it's a Thai energy drink, meaning swamp dwelling Red Buffalo, sounds like an appealing cup to win. It's the national animal of the Philippines

Tough draw but I guess a good test for a few of the fringe players and youngsters to try and come through.

Tough draw. Leicester will be taking it very seriously, more so that it's us at their ground. Put out a good selection of young lads, mix in a few of the first XI (fatigue levels permitting) and see what happens. Wrap Mané and Firmino up in cotton wool.

No Europe for them as well so think they'll have a strong side out (they'd be stupid not to).

Weird that there was absolutely no coverage of the draw on tv or online. Anyway, time to prioritise. Be competitive but don't sacrifice the more pressing concerns, so I'd be annoyed if players like Mane or Firmino were anywhere near this. Will be a good chance for lads like Ben Woodburn and Ryan Kent to test themselves against what will definitely be a strong Leicester team.

I believe the draw was in China last night. So 4am our time. Ridiculous.

Still a very tough draw. Be interesting to see if they still have Mahrez by then.

Again, I repeat my hope that we jib off this stupid competition that is way more hassle than it's worth, especially given the ridiculous fixture list in November and December.  Rest is way way more important.

Play the U23s. Put some U18's on the bench. Give Danny Ings a game to check if one of his knees falls off. Everybody else takes the night off. Rinse and repeat for every other game in this pointless thing.

Thats mad. I just read we are playing Leicester and i was wondering why we didnt know this last night.

Would have preferred an easier draw as this is an opportunity to go far with many fringe players but we can still win.

Tough draw... On September 16 we play Burnley at home, then the midweek cup game at Leicester before travelling there again at the weekend. Will be an advantage for us that we play them twice in a few days. Disadvantage that both matches are away ;)

Tough draw but we can beat them twice in a row!

All the other top six teams are playing smaller clubs, hopefully a few upsets there.

Have to agree.  Why on Earth do we have two  domestic cup competitions,  this shit needs to be scrapped

Tough draw,  we never do well there.  Another easy draw for Man utd,  another jammy cup win incoming  ::).  We need to priortise,  the League and Champions League performances are key in keeping and attracting new players.

All the top six bar us and City got lower league sides, I don't know why people have to go full Everton when it comes to these draws. Its a cup, form and league position mean less.

I do think the League Cup is a lower priority this season, it's certainly bottom of the list for me although it is still a cup we can win.

Play the kids

It's one of those competitions. If we win its great as we've got a trophy, if we lose we're not arsed as it's probably the lowest Calibre of trophy we could win anyway

At the moment, our 'second string' would still looking pretty strong anyway

If it was played tomorrow you'd have the likes of Karius, Clyne, Klavan, Robertson, Milner, Grujic, Sturridge, Origi, Solanke all looking for starts, hardly a pile of shite.

The Scottish version used to be a quickfire tournament with the final played in October.  I always thought that was a good, exciting format - if nothing else the quick burst of early games would be good for sharpness, and I don't see why they shouldn't get a couple of rounds in during the international break either.

Round 3 - Play the kids, this is a shit competition, who cares.
Round 4 - Play the kids, what a waste of time.
Quarters - Play the kids, maybe they will get us all the way to the final?
Semis - We're in the semi final?! Shit, best throw Mane, Firmino and Coutinho in.
Final - We've won a trophy!! What a great competition.

Don't forget the Champions League group stages are also around this time. A week after the midweek cup game at Leicester is Matchday 2, so can't see many 1st team faces involved at all in this one.

I like the League Cup, been good to us over the years. Also, if you get through a couple of rounds, you're suddenly in the Quarters and might as well give it a good go. Last year with no Europe it made sense to take it seriously which we did.

Think depending on Champions League draw and the busy schedule, no-one can have too many complaints if we do play a weakened team (still should hav plenty of experienced squad players to call on though).

Tickets are still relatively easy to get hold of even for aways and sometimes a chance for new grounds. I enjoy it. Loved Burton and Derby last year.

Not bothered if Leicester beat us. Just don't dare put any of the starting XI in.

                               Karius

TAA/Clyne (Whicehever is backup)   Gomez  Klavan  Flanno

             Milner   Grujlic  Ejaria

    Woodburn   Solanke    Kent/Markovic

Fuck.... Id fancy it with them lads actually

Some of the best aways have been in the League Cup over the years (more so when we got bigger allocations but still). This will be a better atmosphere than the league game after (result dependent).

Well either TAA or Clyne will be rotated or at worst Clyne would be playing for fitness.

Same with Moreno and Robertson.

As for Lovren I am assuming/hoping that we sign a CB before window closes.

Tough draws seem to be the order of the season for Liverpool, the best non-seeded team we could get in the CL qualifier, and now an away game vs a half decent prem team in the league cup.

Still, it'll be 11 changes to the starting line up and rightly so  8)
