This bus thing has been well and truly dragged out. I even think the poster that’s been highlighted in the media is focussed on our own team and welcoming them as we do most big European nights. Maybe I’ve missed the one that mentions City’s bus. Hopefully it passes without incident like last year but I do like the idea of nobody being there for their bus and the ground is rocking when they turn up.

When their bus arrives, why don't we give them a real gentleman's welcome, the way they do at the cricket stadium at Lords with a kind applause? Have our best behaved fans line-up in front of the bus and shake their hands too. I tell you, they will be so confused, it will terrify them.

We mustn't fall for this bus wanker nonsense. The image of Liverpool and Scousers in this country is already poor, and for City, their manager, fans and sections of the media to constantly bring it up enforces those negative stereotypes. It wasn't as if 10,000 of us lobbed bottles and bricks at the bus. It was a few idiots, it was distasteful at best and downright idiotic at worst. But fuck me, get over it.

We get mocked for 'being the victims' yet as far as I can see, it is other clubs who can't let anything go and act as if they've been persecuted. Let's do our talking on the pitch and go 9 points clear.

Let's hope Anfield is fucking horrible tomorrow. I'll be doing my part and will be feeling very disappointed in myself on Monday morning if I can talk  ;D
Seriously, if the atmosphere is fucking incendiary we will win. First goal of course is massive and if we get it, it'll be hard for City to overturn. Every decision should be contested, and it should be the longest 90 minutes of any City player's career, the officials' too.

Alisson
Trent   Lovren   VVD   Robertson
Fabinho
Gini   Hendo
Salah   Bobby   Mane

Take it to them from the very first whistle, If both teams perform to their very best, we will win. We are the best team in the world and tomorrow is another beautiful chance to remind the world.

Getting excited already.

Im not sure how we - or City - will line up to be honest. But if I were selecting the Liverpool team, given that Sterling is almost certain to be in the Sane role, on the left, I’d be very tempted to play our quickest C.B - Joe Gomez - rather than the excellent but less quick Lovren. City are very good; but predictable. Lovren’s assets are seen to best advantage against other opposition than these, where crosses result often in aerial threats.

Yeah I'd go with Gomez, not sure what's happening with him, perhaps he isn't impressing Klopp in training.

what do you mean by "little englander psyche"? i don't understand the term.

Isn't the crass stereotype that Scousers are dodgy and comical something that is more widespread?

I'm thinking it were that monkey Harry Enfield that was partly/greatly responsible for that with his scouser/calm down routine in the 80s.. made it into every lounge in the country..
The little englanders would include fans of maggie thatcher and probably bojo today.
They'd be tory , often southern , as well as other s*n readers who believe that all things english are superior to foreigners(despite the evidence of their own eyes).
They look for confirmation of this with people to look down their noses at and we were given to them on a plate by Thatcher(some people darn sarf actually refer to Liverpool as the capital of Ireland and scousers as paddies).
In the 60's and 70's scousers had the larrikin reputation but it wasn't seen as a bad stereotype - a lot of comedians on the TV were scouse so we were seen as people who enjoyed life and liked a laugh(and of course we produced the Beatles).
When Thatcher came to power and Liverpool rejected her economic plans she set about her political assassination with the help of her media cronies(of course the s*n was a major player ..."there's nothing in Liverpool but football and strikes").
There was constant propaganda in the media(at one point they were proposing to settle all Hong Kong residents in Liverpool as our population was indolent). We were always on strike(even though factories that had good industrial relations were also shut down) and we didn't want to work but were happy to rort the welfare system and rob what else we could.
The entertainment media was complicit in this(for their own financial gain or for something more sinister). The likes of the Bread "comedy" perpetuated the myth of scousers robbing and driving jags when on the dole and the Harry Enfield show also confirmed the scousers as work shy scroungers but we were also portrayed as criminals and unemployed in other programs.
Today, you will never see a scouser in a positive role on the T.V. If they want a criminal or dolite they will pick somebody with a scouse accent.
This constant reinforcement is now accepted as fact - speak with a scouse accent darn sarf and watch people quietly pull their possessions closer(and it won't help you going for a job interview as they know what type of person you are).
So a whole city is stereotyped because we disagreed with Thatcher politics(so much for democracy).
Anyway this is a bit off topic but just explaining what most scousers understand automatically.

Come on you mighty reds! Lets twat these plastics with the dodgy accounting practices!

I might be wrong but I can see Milner playing midfield instead of Hendo so to provide Robertson/Trent more cover at full back when they bomb forward. He played there for 30mins against Genk and can see that happening again, plus he will be up for playing against his former club. I would like to see Ox/Keita but suspect Milner and Henderson are favourites to line up along Fabinho and Gini

How to get our mojo back for Man City matches:

Simples. 2 years ago Man City were setting new records in the Premier League and being hailed the best team everest, even though such a word is unfair. We played them in the two Anfield games to prove we can compete against the best of the best everest. We did it. We proved it everest.

But the landscape has changed. Now, we're on top. Last season we were right in there, and instead of fighting fire with fire and proving everest, we were instead being a little cautious, we had something to lose... it could be the same this time as we have a six point lead we don't want to ruin.

How to avoid this mindset: I would say forget about the six point lead. Play them as if we're going to climb the highest mountain on Sunday, and give them everything, throw everything at them as if we're playing a City team on Fifa 20 with edited players rated 99 all over the pitch... we got to produce one of those performances where we want to kill teams with three goals in 20 minutes again.

It's going to be tricky to achieve this because City are now 4th and they are going to raise their game several levels to prove they can live with us. It's a totally different challenge to the one two years ago. I hope we are not cautious like the Anfield game last year. The Etihad game was a cracker where we were unlucky. This has the potential for a 2-2 or 3-2 cracker or one of the 7 deadly spoilers.

I just have a feeling Klopp is getting glorious flashbacks of the Ox against City in the European game at Anfield and might go with him ahead of Gini hence subbing him off early against Genk.

Can't wait for this one. I'm more excited than nervous for this game. Thats the advantage of having a bit of a cushion. I would imagine City fans are shitting it coming into the most difficult fixture in football, knowing defeat leaves them a mountain to climb.

Thats not to say I think we will definitely win (I think it will be a draw), just that even a defeat isn't the end of the world for us. It would depend on how we bounce back, and with this team, I am sure we would.

If we lose we would only be 3, next best thing is a draw which is 1. 3 + 1 =?........4  - so  if we draw, we'd only get 1 more point. 4.
