Worst ever XI that I've seen play for Liverpool:

                          Karius

Josemi      Kvarme         Babb         Traore

Nunez      Spearing       Poulsen      Downing

                Diouf           Solanke

Bench: Ngog, Konchesky, Markovic, Bogdan, Borini

Ruddock actually had a pretty decent left peg and was a good header of the ball - but his attitude stunk.

As for Downing - 0 goals and 0 assists in an entire season says it all for him, he was far too meek and used to hide, just didn't have the balls to play for LFC - I couldn't stand him.

Harsh on Downing. That was the infamous woodwork season, I swear he "nearly" scored so many times. In general though, he really wasn't that bad.

A bit harsh on Karius I think, remembered for the 2018 Champions League final for the most part. I suppose the problem is if a number one is really bad, they don't stay number one for long so in that respect, it'd be difficult to pick one. You'd have to go for someone like Padelli who had one game and mistake (IIRC) or Itandje, who wasn't great and embarrassed himself off the pitch as well.

Also a bit harsh on Traore - I see what you mean, he wasn't the most aesthetically pleasing footballers and did sometimes tie himself up in knots but I'll always defend him because of Istanbul and that clearance off the line. Konchesky would be a more worthwhile addition at left-back, party because he wasn't particularly good but partly because of what he also represented.

And on Ngog too, for what he cost and what was expected of him, he was ok, his minutes per goal wasn't bad I think. Plus, you know, him and Reina's man love against Man Utd was special.

Granted. You've got a point.

Lucas has that Roman legionnaire kind of good looks, and I had to stick in someone with blond hair and blue eyes for the sake of diversity :D

Have to say, I forgot about Leto. I just google imaged him. He could be Meghan Markles long long twin brother..

Jovanovic? Cole? Keane? Aspas?

It's my team damnit!  ;D

Come on though, whilst they were certainly all crap at LFC, I'm not picking them in my worst ever XI ahead of the only Liverpool #9 in the clubs history to go an entire season without scoring a league goal (Diouf). Solanke was useless also, and can't score at Bournemouth either.

As for the other shouts, Djimi Traore for me was the least talented 'footballer' I've ever seen at LFC, much less so than any of those names above. No one will ever change my mind on that. The guy couldn't pass a ball 5 yards.

Watch the highlights back again - people think he cleared the ball off the line against Milan, but it actually wasn't on the line and was probably hitting the post if you watch back. He was the one who gave away the free-kick for the opening goal in the first minute with a pathetic tackle attempt and for the second he is nowhere to be found and Milan take full advantage of the acres of space at leftback where he should have been.

He fails to trap the ball from a 10 yard pass from the kick off of the second half.. he was atrocious in that game!

That's not even mentioning the cruyff turn into his own net at Burnley, the penalty he gave away against Chelsea.. actual footballing-ability wise, there have been none worse than him at LFC that I've seen in 25 years of watching.

Of course. I agree it's your team. But Solanke? I would have seen it as professionals who were shite for us. People who contributed zilch to the team. Not a U23 player who wasn't able to step up. And hence Cole, Jovanovic and Keane.

Just Solanke and Downing to some extent. But I agree with the rest of the team though.

Worst ever XI that I've seen play for Liverpool:

                          Karius

Josemi      Kvarme         Babb         Traore

Nunez      Spearing       Poulsen      Downing

Bench: Ngog, Konchesky, Markovic, Bogdan, Borini

Julian Dicks

Especially for Traore! Downing and Solanke weren’t that bad either. You’ve got to get Konchesky and Sean Dundee in. Maybe Diomede at left mid.
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

Heggem was quality.

I'll always defend Ngog and Traore as well. Ngog was asked to be back up to Torres which seemed to be an affront to some but his goals per minutes were ok and he generally did fine for us. Traore, ok he wasn't great but I love a trier and he cleared that ball off the line at 3-3 in Istanbul.
We have to change from doubter to believer. Now.

Heggem shouldn’t be in there. He was really good when he was fit, just couldn’t recover from those hamstring injuries.

Agree with Hazell on Ngog. It’s not like he failed to live up to expectations, just that he should never really have been Torres’s understudy. Djimi can always point to his Istanbul medal but he was pretty poor! Although him whipping in a cross for fellow scapegoat Biscan to head a late winner against Bolton is a highlight.

True 50+ makes it tougher. Actually thought Kelly was also always pretty decent for us, again hit by injuries a lot. Did Flanagan make it to 50? Again he wasn’t terrible.

Could you arguably have McAteer in there? He was good in 95/96 when Jones was switched to left back but fell away quite badly.
