FA Cup Final Arsenal v Aston Villa 5:30pm
« on: May 30, 2015, 08:22:51 am »
Arsenal v Aston Villa

The 2015 FA Cup Final will be the 134th final of the FA Cup, the world's oldest football cup competition. The match will be contested between Arsenal and Aston Villa at Wembley Stadium in London, England. The match will be played on 30 May 2015 and will be the final match of the 2014–15 FA Cup

Following a change in UEFA rules, this is the first season where runners-up in cup competitions do not enter the UEFA Europa League if the winners have already qualified for Europe. Therefore if Aston Villa win, they will enter the 2015–16 UEFA Europa League at the group stage. But if the winners are Arsenal (who have already qualified for the Champions League by finishing third in the Premier League), the remaining Europa League place will go not to them or Aston Villa, but to Southampton, the highest placing Premier League team which has not qualified for any European competition.

The winners will play against Chelsea, winners of the 2014–15 Premier League, in the 2015 FA Community Shield at Wembley.

Arsenal

Round
3rd   Hull City (h)   2–0

SF   Reading (n)   1–2 (aet)

Aston Villa

Round

4th   Bournemouth (h)   2–1
5th   Leicester City (h)   2–1

As well as the benefits to ourselves if Arsenal win, I think Southampton deserve a place in Europe more than Villa do (and they would be better for the English co-efficient as well), so here's hoping that no upset happens. ;D

Villa for me...all day....
They have life in them, they have humour, they're arrogant, they're cocky and they're proud. And that's what I want my team to be.

I'd rather see Arsenal win

Two reason,  Tim Sherwood I don't really dislike him but he did 6 months a Tottenham & then all of a sudden he touted around as next manager for every premier league job & he's turning them down like he's got years of experience & great coach . Then there's a guy I work with who's Villa season ticket holder & an utter utter rude c*nt so don't want him to win it . Funny how people can turn you against a club

I actually don't mind Arsenal  & find West Ham  & Arsenal  fans tend to not mind each other's clubs probably due to a mutual dislike of Tottenham & Chelsea

So if Villa win how does it affect us? Read the above and can't make sense of it.

EDIT: just seen the main thread on the main board

I hope Arsenal win it too. Obviously it'd be be good for us, we'd go to straight to the Europa League group stages but like you, I don't particularly like Sherwood or Villa and don't particularly mind Arsenal.
We have to change from doubter to believer. Now.

Loath that it's half 5 kick off, should be 3pm, however gives a chance to watch the Scottish Cup Final Inverness CT vs Falkirk.

Few cup finals today, German cup final Dortmund vs Wolfsburg 7pm, Copa Del Rey  final 8.30pm Ath Bilbao vs Barcelona.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is similar to the Arsenal-Hull final with Villa providing an early scare, but Arsenal's quality coming through in the end

Credit to the BBC for their coverage today, as a neutral, even with Lawrenson and Neville on the screen it's great to see a proper build up to what is still a massive cup final.

I am hoping Villa win. Don't care if it means we start our season early. The players and manager have been on holiday since March so they don't need  a longer one. Plus more competitive games is always a good thing IMO.

I don't get why they even need a break. Fucking kick a football around once a week is not even a job in my book. They should play all year round. And be forced to work in the mines when not training to keep them grounded. Bastards.

Surprisingly, they actually got 71,000 to Stadium Australia. But given the standard in Australia, football fans will flock to anything that resembles quality.

Will never beat our 95,000 though.

First FA Cup Final in 15 years? Let's make a flag about Steven Gerrard to celebrate. :lmao

Rafa Benitez: "I'll always keep in my heart the good times I've had here, the strong and loyal support of the fans in the tough times and the love from Liverpool. I have no words to thank you enough for all these years and I am very proud to say that I was your manager. Thank you so much once more and always remember: You'll never walk alone."
