Bolton 2-1 Liverpool: Half time.......
« on: January 15, 2012, 08:53:00 am »
Let's forget about the Stoke game and set our sights on the next one. Next Saturday we'll go to the Reebok to play Bolton, who are one point off the bottom spot and haven't won a home game for over two months.

Once, this was our bogey team and the Reebok one of our annual banana skins. Not anymore, Liverpool have beaten Bolton on the last ten occasions they played each other.

Liverpool obviously will miss Lucas and Luis Suarez and perhaps Jay Spearing and/or Daniel Agger are out too. Bolton will miss Jaaskelainen, Alonso, Gardner, Mears, Lee, Holden and Davis(not Davies, mind).

I reckon we can win this one and it could be an interesting week-end with Arsenal playing Manchester United and Chelsea travel to high-flying Norwich.

C'mon you Redmen!

If we keep playing without midfield runners into the box, without speed of thought and willingness to take a risk then I don't see us winning. Too many passengers to build up any kind of steam.

I think it depends on how Bolton approach the game. Being the home team you would expect them to come at you a little. However a point against Liverpool would be very good for them. I think if they set up to not concede then there is a high chance that this game will be a draw, unfortunately we struggled to create much against stoke and if Bolton can have the same sort of discipline then it could be another very long afternoon, hopefully get somebody creative in by then, whether it's a young lad like sterling which I've alluded to before or a new signing because we lack real creativity when trying to break teams down.

Hopefully Bellamy will be able to start that one as we need some pace going forward but will that preclude him from starting against City ?

I'd rather win city than win this, but purely because I don't think we re good enough to finish top 4, and we're 90 minutes away from effectively winning a trophy, personal point of view anyway

We'll nick it by a goal. No more point in talking about 'someone being due a thrashing'.

I'm going to this one, but I think if we turn up with another 5-3-1-1 then I might just go home at half time.

No doubt the management will have one eye on wednesday night.

Think that will play a big part on who starts against Bolton.

Hopefully Jonjo starts.  8)

The 3-1 win at Anfield had to been arguably our best performance this season, no? Let's hope they do the same at the Reebok.  :wave

I went to Goodison when he scored a very nice goal.

He's looking good N'Gog. I always liked him when he was here. Certainly wouldn't begrudge him a goal (If we win)

for the whole of thye second half against Man City away and virtually all of Stoke at home we where resigned to poor attacking play,  albeit Man City was cup football yesterdays game was awful and the tactics deployed where not attempted at a change until after the 60th minute,  it should have changed a after a couple but failed.

Bolton are there for the taking, our top 4 finish is waining yet again,  certain players need to step up their games

Hmm...not sure if you're being serious here.

We may indeed have been top 4 at the end of the 2nd week of the season but it hardly constitutes the 'story of the season' does it? Since the end of August we've been hanging onto the coat tails of those above us while continually struggling to beat inferior opposition and even score more than the odd goal in open play.
