Well LFC-Girl....

With the u17's doing well (is it in the cup or their league?) there seems to be an optimism that the future of Liverpool FC is assured. It would be interesting to see whether the current crop of u-17's can progress up from their current grade up to the reserve and senior team...

They win the league with 4 games to go and unbeaten!  The following is from the official website.

Title winning under-17s host Blackburn
(Steve Hunter)

Title winning Liverpool under-17s are in action later this morning when they host Blackburn Rovers at the Academy.

With four games to go Dave Shannon’s side won the title on Wednesday when Crewe slipped up ironically at today’s opponents Blackburn.

Shannon’s team haven’t lost a game this season and have scored 65 goals and conceded just 15, and are 11 points clear of Manchester United.

Reflecting on the title success, Shannon said: "In the past we have had some very, very talented individuals.

"You only have to look at the likes of Michael Owen, Steven Gerrard, Robbie Fowler and David Thompson, who all came to us as schoolboys, to see that we have always had talented individuals.

"But this year for the first time I would say we’ve got strength in depth. We took 14 scholars on in the summer which is more than usual.

"Some years we might only take six or seven on full time and the rest of my side would be made up of schoolboys.

"We don’t play a numbers game here. We took the 14 on because we found more talented players than usual.

"Take our centre forwards for instance. We took four strikers on - Mark Smyth, Jason Massie, Matty Murray and Stephen Gillespie - because we felt they all have the talent to progress.

"The amount of goals we have scored this season shows what an attacking minded team we are.

"But if you look at the statistics you will also see that we haven’t conceded many goals and that shows how resilient we are defensively.

"But it is the quality of our attacking play that stands out and the ’freedom of rotation’ as we call it.)

*****

That means we are attractting the best youngsters in England.  The future looks bright!  ;D

I thought it was for league championship for North West Region so they will have to enter the final knockout stage of the national championship (I think we are in Final 4 now).

Anyway still excellent job and well congratulating.

For some reason that just sounds great.

The bluest skies you’ve ever seen are in Seattle- And the hills the greenest green, in Seattle-
Like a beautiful child, growing up, free an’ wild- Full of hopes an’ full of fears, full of laughter, full of tears-
Full of dreams to last the years, in Seattle- in Seattle!
