Which CB was it who ran half the length of the pitch with the ball when the Shrewsbury players were covering the passing options?

I think so, right side of the defence. Eventually the ball ran too far ahead of him in traffic. I think both Hoever and Williams are ready to be included with the seniors, along with Jones.

Hoever is so smooth on the ball & in defending on the ground but he needs to bulk up a bit to play CB with seniors as it was Van den Berg who went for all the big duels & surprisingly won most of them.

Neil and his boys deserve their own song....maybe not this one, but they do deserve their own one at the Bridge!

We played our team of young kids
In our FA Cup replay.
The punters gave us no chance.
Cos our 1st team stayed away.
But we only went and won it
And shut the fuckers up.
Now Neil's team of young Reds
Are gonna win the FA Cup!

Allez Allez Allez...

He is a bitter fuck. All he kept talking  about was how klopp should have been at the ground while an ex bitter matthew upson was more balanced siding with klopp about the fa. Dont know why murphy is given the air time he shows absolutely no intelligence about the game. He stays bitter about being sold while the club moves on to greater glory. Fuck him and the others.

With such experts as Danny Higginbotham and Stephen Warnock getting the air time that they do, Murphy is some kind of all-star pundit.

Williams, Chirivella and Jones have earned starts imo. Probably Elliot will join them. We can surround them with Ox/Keita, Minamino, Origi, Milner ( LB), Matip & Lovren.

Fucking YES!!

So happy for them and proud that they did the job last night in front of a packed Anfield.

Didn't realise the FA decided not to air the "magic of the FA cup" at all...strange that  ::)

Regardless of who makes it here and who doesn't....these games are going to help shape these kids careers going forward. Especially in terms of getting the right mentality which is so important in the game and at the age they are too.

What a great night at Anfield last night! It doesn't matter who we line up with, we play the same way and our kids looked brilliant! Can't wait to see some of these in the first team in a couple of years time. Special mention of Van Den Berg who was outstanding and Harvey Elliott who looked like he was in quite a lot of discomfort for the last 30mins of the game

I love this club.

Just when I thought this season couldn't possibly get any better, the youngsters put in a brave, confident and mature performance to get us through. The scenes at the end with Critchley and all the players in front of the Kop was just brilliant to see, and the standing ovations for the players will stay with them forever.

I was pleasantly surprised at how easy the young lads made this look, despite having an obvious lack of cutting edge.

They`re obviously the product of excellent coaching and a club-wide ethos.

It would have been great if Williams had only slotted that shot across the keeper instead of going for the near post. The move deserved it.

Williams (rightly) takes the plaudits but special mention to his counterpart Lewis whom I thought was solid considering his lengthy layoff. In moments you can see why he's looked at internally as a backup option to Robbo.

Probably hasn't got the attention it deserves due to this weird media blackout, but this is an enourmous achievement for Critchley and the young players.  And more widely for the club and Klopp.

Last night was an unbelievable performance and achievement from a very young Liverpool side. They've all got to take a lot of credit for what they did. Same with Neil Critchley too.

Id let the same lads play against Chelsea.Them boys deserve it . That game management at the end was absolutely class.

Despite what I said above there is no way I'd be playing the same team v Chelsea away. Why would we do that if there are 20 senior professionals coming back and available?

For me the Q about the Chelsea game is whether we go full strength or not. Watford away and Bournemouth at home are either side of the Chelsea game. I'd argue that you could potentially rotate a bit for both league games and still go close to full strength at Chelsea. That rotation might give the likes of Williams, Jones, Elliot, Chirivela a chance of getting in the match day 18 for either those league games and/or the FA Cup 5th round. That would be significant reward for the under 23's who seem to have progressed furthest this season

Last night was a real success for what we are doing at academy level and our recruitment at youth level. If you think about it, that's not even our strongest under 23 side. Imagine if we picked lads under the age of 23 either from  our 1st team squad or out on loan.

Team could look something like this:

Kelleher

Williams
Gomez
Phillips
Larouci

Chirivella
TAA
Jones

Wilson
Brewster
Elliott

Subs: Grabara, van den Berg, Hoever, Ejaria, Ojo, Woodburn, Kane

Then you add all the players who played last night and it shows the strength we have at under 23 level.

Excluding TAA and Gomez, I think it's a reasonable aim to try and get 3 players from this group who play +100 games in Liverpool's 1st team. Not going to speculate on who because I think there are 5 or 6 at least who have the potential to do this. Getting 3 or more who become proper 1st team players would be an amazing achievement when you add it to TAA and Gomez.
I think Jookie might just be the best fisherman on this thread.

Bournemouth at home does look like a good opportunity to rest a few given that it's sandwiched between Chelsea and Atletico.

Generally speaking, though,  I'm not sure I see Klopp resting players for the league to prioritise the FA Cup regardless of the circumstances. I expect the likes of Williams, Chirivella, Jones and Elliott to remain at the very least in the squad for the cup, with at two or three of those starting at Chelsea.

If we win our next three PL matches, we should play Chelsea with strongest team and rest players against Bournemouth.
We will not ... play our strongest team against Chelsea. We play a mix team of seniors/fringe seniors and the youth players in the Cups (League Cup and FA Cup) for strategic reasons and not just for the sake of it. Klopp will show his trust and belief in this strategy. If we are destined to win the FA Cup, we’re going to do it with a mixed team like the one that beat Everton whether we are playing Chelsea or Portsmouth

It was absolutely brilliant that last night, it's one of my favourite games I've been to. Superb support for the young lads from the off, a big let off when we scored and even a half decent airing of 'fuck the tories' from the Kop.

On the pitch Williams was by some way the stand out for me. Better than most fullbacks in the league [apart from 2 I can think of!]. Jones, Elliot, Chirivella, Hoever  all very good too and VDB definitely quietened down the doubters [me included].

Be interesting to see who Klopp goes with for the chelsea game given the talk is he'll have the whole squad to choose from after the break. I'd certainly expect to see Williams and Jones, possibly Chirivella and maybe elliot and Hoever too. We can win this trophy now imo. Lampard won't play that strong a team and these lads have shown time and again they fear no one.

Watford is on Sat 29th Feb and Bournemouth on Sat 7th March so it will be Tues or Weds depending on TV. It won't matter as Klopp will continue to let the U23s have their chance. They have earned it and it is the right thing to do. I expect a blend of the best U23s and senior squad players who need game time. Something like:

Adrian
Williams  Hoever  Lovren  Lewis
Lallana Chirivella Keita
Elliott  Origi  Jones

Good enough to beat a slightly weakened Chelsea team.
