Up there with the worst officiating i've seen

Unreal amounts of time wasted by Algeria as well as reckless fouls

One bit of quality from Sadio when his boot came off and somehow still managed a shot in.

4 minutes?! Really? What a shambolic end to a shambolic tournament. Insane that you cant even put into words how terrible the refereeing has been. Weak.

The anti-football team win it what a travesty. I'm sorry but there is something seriously amiss, four minutes was just disgusting.

This is how shit Algeria has always played and they never got punished for it because of how shit the officiating in Africa is.

Senegal was shit in this game though, Mane was surrounded by utter dross who have no IQ whatsoever.

The important thing is that Sadio is uninjured and now gets a few weeks before returning to the club. It's a shame for him and for Senegal, but he'll be raring to go again in a few weeks.

Mane played until 19th July for that? Senegal should've helped us all out and got beat in the first fortnight if that's all they could muster. If ever you want perspective on how far AC Milan have fallen consider they used to employ M'Baye Niang. Nothing more needs to be said.

What an absolutely shockingly bad tournament this has been - I was really looking forward to it, thinking it'd tide me through the close season but I can't remember a single decent game. Every one I saw was totally joyless and devoid of any entertainment value whatsoever. The same goes for the Copa America... and the little I saw of the Womens World Cup was pretty dire too.  International football in any form is the pits these days.

Thank fuck for the return of some proper footy - Liverpool pre-season friendlies.  ;D

You aren't really wrong. There were a few good women's games however. But the Copa America, AFCON, and the Gold Cup were pretty bad.

Yeah, the cynical play & utter shite refereeing in both tournaments this summer has done me. At least our players came through unscathed.

The semi's and the final of the copa made the whole International calendar worth it.

almost. sort of. well no. But that was decent.

To be honest, i just followed Afcon only because there was no other competitive league matches has started. God knows I'd rather have watched Gibraltar league matches if I had access to. A tournament with majority of matches ending 0-0 or 1-0, even penalty shoot out's were weak and refereeing was a total shit show. I guess only thing I enjoyed was Mane making it to finals and coming back healthy and Madagascar making a surprise.

I used to enjoy watching the AFCON, but this was one of the worst tournaments I've ever seen in any sport. The Nigeria - Cameroon game (3-2) was fun, but every other game was 22 players who'd rather be somewhere else, lacking any passion. And the quality was shocking. In the end, it's appropriate that a team won the final with a deflected shot and thanks to poor goalkeeping, with what was most likely their only shot in the game.
