I've been a disgrace recently - went away for a few days and just ate and drank all sorts. Since I've come home I've not been much better, snacking and not getting much excercise if any at all. I weigh 12 stone but only about a year and a half ago I was 10 stone. Need to sort it out but it's so hard - tried jogging for a bit but with uni work amongst other things it's difficult to make the time but then I know sometimes it's just an excuse.

This summer I'm really going to try and cut down and do more exercise but would like to start losing a few pounds now.

What route did you take?

Through Caldies, up Druids Cross and down the Valley, onto the loop line down to Halewood, then along the back country lanes to Rainhill, down towards Cronton, down to Hale village, out to Halebank, loop back to Hale, back to Halewood, Hunts Cross, past the golf course up to Camp Hill, down past Allerton Towers and eventually out onto Aigburth Hall Road, up Mossley Hill Rd to the church, down Elmswood and once round the park, back up Queens Drive to Allerton Rd.

Been really good with exercise of late and looking after my diet. Felt mighty as a result.

Gone to pot this weekend! Currently watching the golf swigging a beer!
It looks to me as if we have signed another 'average' player. I'll hold back my complete opinion until I see the lad play

And then the over half will come off when you have a massive post-easter poo.

You weren't wrong there.

a mate of mine is trying the "pig to twig" diet... he lost about 10lbs in two weeks.....
seems to be taking alot of willpower though, like all diets i guess
if you wanna be the best you gotta beat the best

I'll make two predictions of this...Carroll won't score 3 PL goals total for the rest of the year and we won't score 5 against any team all year.  We might still get CL football without either happening.

The concept of a 'diet' ie changing your eating habits for a finite period of time is ridiculous.

Needs to be a permanent change, and something sustainable.

The Loop Line is brilliant mate, especially the section from Well Lane down to Halewood.  The northern section is alright as well but there is a lot more broken glass up there.  And the occasional snarling scal.

It's a brilliant way of getting from one end of the city to the other on your bike though.  I seriously reckon I could get from Well Lane to Aintree quicker on my bike than I could in the car most times of day

Does it go as far as Fiddlers Ferry? Its funny that you've mentioned it because I was thinking of following it on google earth out of interest. You probably won't notice if your travelling at speed but there's some lovely birds along there (feathered type), and yeah, scals with dogs.

It goes as far as Halewood Country Park but then you are nearly out of the city and onto the country roads.  You can follow Lower Lane down to Hale and pick up the coast to coast cycle route that takes you to Fiddlers Ferry

I aim to swim 2000 metres at the gym a week and go on the bike but the scales saying the same
time to get back to work and into the swing of not eating crap again and it should go.

also aim to really get on the treadmill (they're usually rammed) and strengthen my right knee with some steps

I think I'll reluctantly keep an eye on this thread.. I play 5 a side footy once a week and with a young nipper find it hard at a weekend to do any more exercise. Or I come home from work full of good intentions to go for a run, help with his bath and bedtime and then collapse on the sofa. Plus I have both a sweet and savoury tooth so eat all kinds of rubbish.

I know discipline is the key - either stop eating shit, or do more exercise but I have neither the time or the will power to make it happen!

I'll keep reading here and hope somebody has some good advice!

I ate (and drank) loads on holiday but offset it by doing lots of walking so luckily stayed the same weight. The downside is I aggravated my Achilles tendinitis again so will have to take it easy this week, weights only.

Also I'm trying out some diet Whey protein which has less sugar than my current stuff. The strawberry taste is good, doesn't taste artificial - but it's got flax seed in it which is a little gritty. A bit expensive but I use it as a meal replacement too so I buy less food and it evens things out (sort of).

173cm and I weigh 90.7 kg.

I weighed 103kg 2 years ago and got to 80kg. Now regained 10 or so.

Back on a diet today, want to lose 7kg (a stone I think) in the next couple of months. I got to change my lifestyle, having way too much fast food. Usually do huge amounts of football and squash but have had a groin strain and twisted ankle in the last couple of months so couldnt move.

Been told by my phsyio that I can do sports again so today is a new leaf. Will let you guys know how it goes.

A stone is 6.35kg. Good luck with it also.

I weighed myself the other day and saw that I've lost roughly a stone over the last 4/5 weeks mostly through eating properly. I'm still recovering from a knee operation and haven't ran properly since around November of last year so I can't wait to be able to run and get rid of more of the belly I'd acquired over the months.

Thing is, ever since I was a teenager, I've lost and gained alot of weight, its very unhealthy. I can gain and lose 20 kg in the space of a few months.

Need to get that in check, Im 30 now.

I'm trying to work up to that, I hit 500m last week, this week has only been 300m (but Ive only been once as opposed to twice last week) so next week im going to aim for 1300m across 3 days to make up what I've missed out on by not going yesterday

Weighed about 18st in September last year. Have got myself down to about 15 and a half stone. I'm 6'1'' so I carry the weight fairly well, looking to lose about another stone and abit before im completely happy. But it seems to be going okay at the moment, eating less than i used to certainly. Eat about six or seven portions of fruit and veg a day on average, a big change from stuffing my gob with crisps  :lickin

Don't do much exercise but i've totally changed my diet so i want to see what that alone will do. Stopped drinking coke, eating any form of chocolate and the only form of sugar i actually eat come to think of it is from my tea. Haven't had a takeaway in god knows how long. I've even started eating fruit in in small bits. That'll take some time but im getting there with bananas and strawberries.

I've been told to drink warm water with a lemon slice each morning to speed up my metabolism so might try that after a while. Last time i weighed myself i was 12 and a half stone. Went from being really skinny (8st) to having a belly now so i need to get rid of that. Really need to get into the habit of drinking water full stop frankly.

Exams are not good for my diet. I've been sat inside pouring over books with some chocolate or biscuits to hand. Copious amounts of tea too. Time to get back to my exercise boot camp - the motivation is inside me somewhere I just need to coax it out. Holiday is coming soon, got to lose the fat tone up for the beach!

There's loads of free stuff on his website. I had a read, it's an interesting take on things and the science behind it is sound. It's a low carb diet trying to eliminate grains and refined sugars - not a bad way to go. But something like this is a long term lifestyle choice, if you do it just as quick fix then you'll never maintain the weight loss.

Quote
The Modern Primal Blueprint® – The Rules of Living Today:
1. Eat lots of animals, insects and plants.
2. Move around a lot at a slow pace.
3. Lift heavy things.
4. Run really fast every once in a while.
5. Get lots of sleep.
6. Play.
7. Get some sunlight every day.
8. Avoid trauma.
9. Avoid poisonous things.
10. Use your mind.

http://www.marksdailyapple.com/definitive-guide-primal-blueprint/

0-50 grams per day: Ketosis and I.F. (Intermittent Fasting) zone. Excellent catalyst for rapid fat loss through I.F. Not recommended for prolonged periods (except in medically supervised programs for obese or Type 2 diabetics) due to unnecessary deprivation of plant foods.

50-100 grams per day: Sweet Spot for Weight Loss. Steadily drop excess body fat by minimizing insulin production. Enables 1-2 pounds per week of fat loss with satisfying, minimally restrictive meals.

100-150 grams per day: Primal Maintenance zone. Once you’ve arrived at your goal or ideal body composition, you can maintain it quite easily here while enjoying abundant vegetables, fruits and other Primal foods.

150-300 grams a day: Insidious Weight Gain zone. Most health conscious eaters and unsuccessful dieters end up here, due to frequent intake of sugar and grain products (breads, pastas, cereals, rice, potatoes – even whole grains). Despite trying to “do the right thing” (minimize fat, cut calories), people can still gain an average of 1.5 pounds of fat every year for decades.

300+ grams a day: Danger Zone of average American diet. All but the most extreme exercisers will tend to produce excessive insulin and store excessive fat over the years at this intake level. Increases risk for obesity, Metabolic Syndrome and type 2 diabetes.

I'm finally getting married in October 2013. Yes, it's a long way away, but we need to save! ;D

Well if you make your children wait for their dinner until transfers have been confirmed that will help on both fronts. ;)
I'll always keep in my heart the good times I've had here, the strong and loyal support of the fans in the tough times and the love from Liverpool. I have no words to thank you enough for all these years and I am very proud to say that I was your manager.

"Thank you so much once more and always remember: You'll never walk alone

If you're trying to lose weight I can heartily recommend Slimming World to all of you. My missus persuaded me to join to help keep her motivated - I've just polished off two fried eggs, three rashers of fried bacon, half a plate of chips, a tin of beans and a tin of tomatoes for a grand total of zero points. Absolutely all of it comes under free foods.
Joining Betfair? Use the referral code UHHFL6VHG and we'll both get some extra cash.

All of the above came from my head unless otherwise stated. If you have been affected by the issues raised by my post, please feel free to contact us on 0800 1234567 and we will send you an information pack on manning the fuck up.
